Ohh, very interesting. And less expensive than I thought they may be. But then, I tend to view CA as a more British NAD so cost to performance should be high. Plus, being consignment, they’re likely a one-off pair bought in by the CA importer for evaluation or told they’re expected to have a set for representation.

I’d really like to see the Edge cross overs. There’s a lot of stuff going on in mine with way more than 16 components. I’d like to see what was done and hear the results.

I recently moved my JDS Labs desktop DAC/amp on as my intention is to step things up a bit as far as headphones go.

The Element III is a tremendous unit and I enjoyed it very much. I’m confident the new owner will also gain much as well.

In its place now sits a Burson Conductor.

I takes up more desk real estate than the Element III but not too much more.

I gave it about 30 minutes to warm up. Same laptop and same phones (B&W P7 with hardwired Canare cable and naked drivers) and holy cow!

Sub bass for days. But bass is also cleaner. In fact, everything is cleaner and more transparent and detailed. And the stage is so wide and open. With some hours on everything, I’m anticipating it’ll get even better.

I’m looking to grab the fancy Burson power supply, and some P9 Signatures to mod next. If fortune shines on me, I’d love to grab a set of Focal Stellia. With other non-hifi projects also competing for $, this is unlikely. Still, the P9 should be a solid upgrade from the P7.

And this is only the Conductor 3 DAC. Imagine how much better the other models are!

Hi Steve

Can you get the vertical mount with that model, to clear some desktop space?

You're quite right Dave. I considered a set but this model DAC doesn't allow rotation of the fluorescent display like the more exxy models do. My OCD would go crazy.

I do have a nice alloy monitor riser stand coming though. Stands are easy enough to find but 99% of them are less than about 60mm high. This DAC, with some alloy cone footers sits higher than that. It also gets pretty warm so I got something which has a little more room for the casework to do it's radiate thing unimpeded.
