Hope you are feeling okay.

I got food poisoning 6 years ago and lost 7kg's overnight. Thankfully we don't own any guns... I may have turned one on myself that night! Gastro/food poisoning is the worst.

And today, as it stands, with the carpet going in as I type this!

I have all the cupboard doors outside waiting to be refinished in black and will refit them this weekend.

I think I mentioned previously I also have thick triple weave 100% blockout black curtains to go in the two openings which will make the front of room symmetrical once more.

Wow, awesome transformation, not long to go...

Did you consider painting the roof the same as the walls to improve PJ performance?  With my rumpus originally I wasn't allowed to, but recently SWMBO has changed her mind and said ok... :thumb:

Looking great. I know AV is not your #1 priority here, but if you are painting the cupboard and entrance doors dark, I found a powder that can be added to gloss acrylic paint to make it mat. I got it from a Dulux colour centre in Nunawading but assume other stores would have similar. You just use a drill and mixer attachment to add to the paint, it comes out looking like mud but goes on easily.

I used it on the inside of my HT door and it's cornice and it came up a treat. Just as hard wearing without the reflections.

EDIT: Yeah @@Kaynin , I have also had the okay to completely pain the ceiling and walls to match what initially was a "stage" area covering walls and ceiling for around 1.5m back from the screen wall. I'd suggest Marc could paint the ceiling in front of the beam to match the walls and leave the rear part white for now... to keep domestic harmony.

Not something I'd been aware of until you guys pointed it out now (ceiling color and its effect on PJ performance). As mentioned though, I'm a sound guy, and as far as visuals go, it's more about quantity over quality for me. I'm more than satisfied with what I have seen on the screen so far and even the lights on performance is really good. The BenQ W1070+ is a stupidly affordable solution particularly in my short throw application.

The ceiling is actually grey, the same colour as the skirting boards, but with such a dark wall it looks white in the photos.

@@blybo - the paint I have for the cupboard doors is actually for laminate - and it's a satin charcoal.

I'm free when you are

Yep, projectors have come such a long way, they really are great value these days when you're going 80"+.

This room looks as tight as a drum, excellent job...

Looking great Marc. My man cave is getting pretty regular use, and it's just a great thing at the end of the day to take in a glass of red, shut the door, and turn up the wick on some tunes or watch a movie. :thumb:

Guys sharing is caring :D

Looking good!

in the early shots with ceiling painted and walls not painted. shows how grey the ceiling is !

without painting the ceiling one other thing can do is drop the screen to as low down to eye level as possible, i.e. fully extend leader as far as possible (not sure where your screen sits with the leader)…the shot showing the screen with picture doesn't show the leader extended ?…the lower the projected image part is from the ceiling the lower the reflection…which will reduce wash out on blacks. I have a white ceiling however the long leader I run helps in this regard. for people with screens very close to the ceiling the impact is massive …literally reflecting back but not such a concern going lower. less chance of a crook neck too if the screen is extended further :)

even carpet colour makes a difference on reflections. I changed from a lighter to darker carpet and could notice the difference ! :D

the benq 1070 bang for buck is pretty hard to beat for output. people with top end projectors have bought it to supplement for its 3D and output capability

Compliment retracted!

That brickwork looks to be the wrong color @Marc

you heading over to re-brick ? :D

Looking great Marc ... what a transformation to how the "garage" was looking just a few months ago!

I like the color scheme ... will be a nice cosy atmosphere to relax in.

Now we need the photos with the carpet :P

you heading over to re-brick ? :D

Sling us a tin, paint roller wrapped in a $100 note and i'm there[emoji3]

Fight! fight! fight!

Looks great!

Have been slowly moving things in. It's all mostly in and working - few bugs to iron out and play with speaker placement etc.

Needless to say, my wife and I sat down tonight and enjoyed our first movie in the new room once the kiddies were fast asleep. Mission accomplished. She loved the new feature to our home so that's gotta be a win.

Very happy with the overall result, despite not being completely finished yet. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Great work, Marc. Congrats on the project.

......now can you get back to help with the moderating?

These double shifts are tough work ;)

Not just yet @@wolster - I think I need a holiday once I get it all finished. :)

Hang in a little longer :P

Well done Marc

Reminds me of my build

Recess the screen, & all those reflection problems go away 😃

no problem we are good at sending people on "holiday" :D

great to hear enjoyed the first movie on the system. its something we very much enjoy doing as well, once kids off to bed. though kids love it too...there are so many excellent kids movies these days ...many of which we enjoy too ourselves hehe.

It's been a busy weekend, and my camera is not available at the moment, so I apologise for these shitty phone pics.

Lights are on obviously which does of course wash out the screen. Better images to come this week.
