wife comes back from work yesterday saying something about how they got a pod machine and it is quicker and easier to use …and heavens the ultimate insult - she says it makes coffee better than I do with the rancho silvia  !  Grrrrr ! this means nothing else but a declaration of war ! 

 

anyways I fob her off with some argument, can't even remember what I said...

 

but mustn't have been convincing…this morning she says… you know it  takes up even less space than that grinder of of yours ! and she is determined to get one of this infernal Pod machines... one same like the one she has at work...

 

..goodness whom would thought this assault from within...

 

…I feel powerless against the pod !

My mate's new girlfriend is a pod user. He wanted to buy her a multi-pack of the flavour she likes. Went in to the Nespresso store and they told him that particular flavour was "exclusive", and that he needed to join the Nespresso Club in order to buy them.

 

Needless to say he walked out and bought her a different gift.

I prefer to buy beans from the local farmers market than get caught up in the nespresso global money making machine…. but am not sure that will suffice to keep the pods at bay !

In our house it's either instant coffee or pods, so I take pods any day of the week, then buy my coffee from a barista when I want a real one!

All that waste....

We were tempted by the pod, even had a fancy pants machine here for a week or so. Quite a nice looking unit too, auto milk frother, real easy to clean, all the bells and whistles.

The coffee it made was pretty good, used Lavazza Caffe Creme Dolce pods,

At first we thought the latte was better, maybe 9 out of 10, but by the end of the week it just didn't taste as good, in fact, pretty bad.

 

So made a couple of lattes on the little La Pavoni Europiccola

 

 

With some nice fresh Costa Rican beans lovingly roasted by our very own sna member Joz.

The evil machine and it's pods have left the building!

 

If the La Pavoni makes a 9 out of 10 coffee, the pod machine was maybe a 4.

 

And now i have a new toy for when camping.

 

One of these 1970's Italian made Vesubio.

 

It too makes a much better cuppa.
