Glad I'm not the only nutcase out there 😠this is my underground workshop. Sounds not too shabby. There's some other interesting stuff stashed in there too.....just not enough room! Regards, Th

I have to mention in my defence, that I collect stuff!. From roadside pickup to e-bay. Rather than have it sit in a cupboard, the audio equipment gets connected up, at whim. This is my workshop. A s

Yeah D_v I feel fortunate to have the room and an understanding wife. I try to balance things as much as possible and not spend all my time in the cellar. My vit D levels are suffering :)

About the only things I haven't built down there are phono carts and ls drive units. And what I haven't repaired down there isn't worth mentioning. It's great playing around. Ummm, it's great being a bit crazy.

Hmm yes I'd love to have a separate space dedicated for electronics work. :(

Gets a bit tricky doing welding, woodwork, machining, small engine repairs, electronic work etc in a 6x3M shed sometimes, but I manage.

Mostly.

OK, get ready to have your shed/workshop world rocked.

My system-

The dear old Sony amp that has been with me since the late 80's, it's like part of the family. Teamed up with a humble little pawn shop Sony disc player

attachicon.gifIMAG0884.jpg

..and the Krix weatherproof speakers that I got here off the classifieds, am very happy with them.

attachicon.gifIMAG0883.jpg

What you cant see is Krispy Mk II IC's and lamp-wire SC's. oh yeah.

the Krispy IC's made a big difference, really. They were being wasted in my drawer so I took them out to the shed system and now I have more bass. :D

I have white set of those Krix for my Alfresco area, great buy they were.

Yes, they sound really good for their size.

Update!!

System has moved to over the bench, componentry is now Sansui's finest. :)

Copied from Sansui thread-

Have been looking at some older bookshelf speakers , Kef or JBL, to match up with my beloved new Sansui stuff but will continue using the Krix weatherproofs for now. Nothing wrong with them.

Waiting for my speaker cables and FM antenna and then will tidy everything up and put it all together.

Looks at those beautiful dials!

Sweeeeet

OK, hooked it all up using the old SC's and popped on JJJ Hottest 100 Vol 4.

This delightful bounteous collection of musical wonderment starts (quite appropriately) with this timeless gem-

Well I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of these components as presented to me. I very quickly deduced that having the Krix a good three inches from the searing corrugated iron required the loudness switch to be engaged and the bass button to be lovingly clicked to '+2'. Such a deft movement, unlike mine this morning. Mummy.

Next was this audiophile gem-

As I nodded appreciatively and in agreement with the general sentiment floating down to me from the perfectly toed in Krix, I realised two things.

One- That 100mm polymax still under the house would help the Krix with first reflections.

Two- What a sad and tragic hi-fi individual I have become, otherwise why would I think Number One?

ah well, will go and try it out.

Some vintage JVC stuff...

MEGA graphic equalisers. Love it.

Mine has been upgraded, changed the radio station :thumb: , but since last post, it has not been switched off. 2 sealed 12's sound good in an old church

What's the go with the switch floating around there.....on top of the headunit....

Does not appear to conform with AUS/NZ standards...

;)

And your photo is sideways again

Interesting, the photo is head unit at the top and the subs on the floor, correct orientation  ;) the KRIX center speaker on the left and a KRIX bookshelf on the right (what is left of my intro to HT) the 4 inch speakers could not reach my holy grail of 100dB, and one died.

That switch was close and handy when I wired it, it is like the ignition key, memory is kept "if" it is switched off, may as well be hard wired though.

Standards, being specific under Definitions in AS/NZS 3000:2007, 12v DC is an Extra Low Voltage and does not need to conform under that particular Standard

Just because it is a "light switch capable of carrying mains volts" doesn't mean it is, particularly at an Electrical Workshop.  :na:

Any more ?  ;)

Oh, the 12's shake the rafters in the neighboring vege shed on Friday arvo, if someone brings a few sherberts and you can tell an Electrician wired it because it is so tidy looking.

  is fun this thread isn't it.

Tasmanian pictures probably do appear sideways to QLD'ers, it's such a long way down to Tassie and back again...something's sure to to move.

Matt if you ever need some bit's for that Alpine, I have one in my truck that smoked one day and I pulled the power leads off it while driving but it's still sitting in there. Was going to fling it but then remembered the gold plating(yup, all that's gold does actually glitter...) . happy to smash it open and retrieve bits off it, out of it.

Nar she's all good mate, have quite a few good ones that actually are ok.

Generally once the Genie has come out literally every FET goes to heaven and they are scrap usually.

But thanks for the kind offer.

Appreciated

Righto, frisbee it is.

*After I smash those gold plated connectors off.

Smash it Brother  :P

Just on the out, a vent on the bottom should be fine with a fan.

With some mesh of some kind to filter out saw dust etc.

I wouldn't know...I'm not a "QLD'er"

But you'd no doubt know a lot about them.

What was it...35 years since your last visit across the border?

meh, that's weird, shows the other way up here,

Nah, been to the Main Land a few times, mainly to buy stuff or watch motor cycle racing

Not a Qlder?, well if it quacks........
