Hi

Love checking out the classifieds.

The new classifieds section is painful to navigate.

Couldn't imagine anyone thinking it's great or me being the last person to say so.

Just saying.

Just catching up on this. Strange I didn't get an update via Notifications on such a momentous event!

I was wondering why nothing much was happening on the Classifieds.. must be a tough market I thought :D

OK 1st impressions not good. So many choices... how many clicks do i need.. and why is that tasty pre amp in the UK and not WA?

Prompted by Marc's 'frustration' , and not having time just now to dive through 8 pages, I decided to have a fiddle.

OK so seems you can go high level or filter, nice! And the Ad details gives an expiry countdown.. nice again! I also love the photo gallery (ebay style).

A few adjustments and learning curves but this is awesome Marc! Well done 💯

Hi Yello Box

Thanks for the feedback.

Can you explain a bit more what the pain points are for you so we can help?

Yes a few tweaks to do and a bit of a learning curve (for everyone involved!). But its coming together.

Really great to read you had a play and explored the options - there are many ways to navigate the content and finding out what works for you is important.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm sure Marc will be pleased.

That’s your user experience though.

From another perspective if I’m only looking for a preamplifier now I don’t have to scour through all the power amplifiers, DACS, streamers and everything else.

All well and good but like you said.. thats your experience. What I'm suggesting is we both (all) win. Not to mention bandwidth load

Noticed the following have been missed on the list - these are based on phone browsing (vertical orientation) for consideration:

Images should be inline with the heading as a block element or directly underneath the heading.

The divider line between posts should be darker to create a sense of separation between posts.

Have the beta filtering options started flowing through to mobile view? Can’t see any options aside from sorting.

Allow swiping controls for images in ads when there are more than one rather than tapping arrows.

Got some items I want to give away and I can't find the "pay it forward" ads (possibly my crap searching skills).

Still there somewhere?

If you go to the forums  I think pay it forward is in the 'old classifieds' section.

I believe the formatting is still being worked on for mobile

I can search and filter on the mobile version. Can you see search and filter? or are you talking about a different array of filters or something entirely else?

Yeah, this would be good (and I'm also having problems with the arrows - they stop working). I'm sure all this is in the 'to do / to fix' list

In the View All ads view, you can now apply filters for price, brand, regions.

We have now implemented Condensed and Expanded views also.

Further styling improvements and additional features will come at a later date. But this is a good starting point.

Many thanks to all that make the classifieds possible.

Might just be an old person thing  but scanning left to right while working down the page ensures you miss no content.

As a user this is what I liked about the old.

I like hifi I want to buy everything, cables products commercial members etc break it down enough .

Read the description get excited ,  scroll to the great pictures .  Dream about buying.

Move on to the next item for sale.

The gear constantly rolls in an ordered way.

What I don't like about the new.

It seems to be lacking  purpose, a bit like a coffee table book.

Pictures of products are poor  in the new gear  just in part

When you open a listing there is a whole lot of information not needed straight away except for description and pric.e.

Maybe it's just me and I'll get used to the new format.

I'm old and hate change. And I'm browsing the new classifieds from Milan after a very long flight from Perth.

Initial thoughts are there are too many clicks required to look at what I'm interested in. I like to browse ALL the ads rather than specific categories. I know I could choose the "all ads" view but that's another 0.5s of my life wasted when I probably have precious time left!

The very old classifieds worked well for me where everything was in one category, cables included.

I think I'll have another chianti, a slice of pizza and some tiramisu and have look again tomorrow.

I'm liking the condensed view 👍

Not sure if Adent was having a go, but thanks found the all ads button.

Expanded and condensed is good.

Everything is okay again 🙂

@Marc

Terrific:

  • filter by region
  • view all/condensed

The filtering by price/region/brand are really useful: two Luxman amps for sale in VIC right now!

I have now become used to the view all/expanded and am unlikely to use condensed even though I had hoped for its launch.

Fickle much, me?

@a.dent et al. . . . it's worth reading back in this thread a little because the complaint you voice was solved on page 1.

I'm not sure I understand this. You want to view ALL ADS, but don't want to view ALL ADS because that takes another 0.5s. Sorry, I'm not following.

It seems as though the demand is to set view all as the default entry point, rather than the categories overview.

To the user: *bookmark* view all ads. solved.

I think this new system aint so bad after all but, I think though if we had the ability to list select classified categories it would put a very nice icing on the cake.

Is there a way to filter the adverts, so you can see the latest adverts first , the default view doesn’t seem to do that ?

That should be able to be done within your Activity Feeds. Spend some time exploring that.
I haven't tried, but I believe it can be done. You have the ability to create a custom stream with only subcategories of your choosing.

I'm going to start splitting posts out of this thread into Support threads, so they can be answered one by one. It may help other people with the same question and we won't have to repeat answers on multiple pages of the thread.

This appears to be a bug. It's not honouring the selection. Noted and now in progress.

It was a jet lagged comment.

It all looks better this morning. 🤣

Hi Marc,

Not sure if this has been logged but after doing a search the window comes up with the search results, but if you try to sort that window it takes you back to the search form.

Otherwise I think overall it's a great improvement, thank you.
