I've held back making any comments until the dust settled a little.  Here's my 2c worth:

 

I saw that there is already a plan to add a 'Wanted to Buy' button/link on the Classifieds home page. That would be nice.

 

Can I suggest adding a 'Tuners & Radio' (or whatever terminology the team feels is appropriate) to the 'Analogue' category please.

Wanted to Buy will eventually become integrated into the Classifieds system as well. For now we are leaving that in the Forums.

Yoh Muzz, Yes totally agree when opened on site at under 20MB all fine--I still feel a 5800Px image @72DPI is extreme overkill for a web posting -the compression is fine for opening with 99% of viewers-I was not taking into account the plethora of Mobile phone cameras with their various output file sizings native now being used for Photos on Classified postings.

I do admit the simplicity of shoot with the phone and paste to Listing without any further ado is boon for 99% of folks and obviously the file sizes do not affect SNA in any way -continue and like I stated please disregard my previous comments.

 

Good to view the "new" Classifieds coming to fruition -Kudos to all!--my fears were unfounded-typical of a silly old goose😳!

That's why myself and Mrs CE are off the beaten track in Bali and Lembongan in June. It's just back luck that her dad has had to give up the chemo - at least he feels better for now. And my mum has been diagnosed with MND, so it's "Oh ****" all around. But we're still hoping for a holiday...a good one.

I’m reminded that more people that are unhappy will seek to voice their opinion and post in this thread, as opposed to those that like and enjoy the new format and just get on their merry way. This is why I don’t make knee jerk reactions to feedback offered. It’s considered and then either added to our current, future, or shelved lists. 

Am I right in assuming that once it is fully in place, I can create a custom activity stream to search the new Classifieds?  

You may be able to do that already?

I was able to do from my account. Not much time has been spent on the Activity Stream integration as yet though.

it niggles that those buttons are all a different size. I get that they’re referencing the text inside but it still feels a bit janky. 
 

not a big deal though and otherwise rock-solid

Thanks! It had to be done that way for those using smaller screen resolutions. The style of the buttons will change soon. There are more buttons going to be required, so we’re going to have to rethink it. Some sort of sub menu and drop downs, though I like to keep everything as ‘one click’ as possible.

The banners take up so much real estate on those small screens. A necessary evil, but I might need to revisit how we can make them effective but less screen-hogging at a future date. 

just a thought.... for those of us more regular visitors.. i went to the classifieds and was looking at some old ads...  ?

 

then realised the classifieds are now under "Global classifieds" ?  and the old classifieds itself is now archived ? why i was only seeing old ads ? 

 

possible to instead having it look like below

 

 

and i am not sure how much traffic all those sections get ..

 

would it make more sense to have the Classifieds section... just have links to each of categories instead ? 

 

ie below but just showing top categories ? that can be links to each one ? 

Accesories

Amplifiers & Receivers

Analogue

 

and so on

 

want to buy, want to borrow etc can also just be links ? 

 

 

 

anyways just a thought as "global classifieds" with its only 339 visits is not really screaming out to be clicked

The Classifieds link in the top menu nav and the additional Classifieds link in the forums submenu nav point to the new Classifieds.
I don't think we're really having any trouble getting traffic there. That Global Classifieds redirect link has only been there less than a day currently just to provide a quick shortcut.
