andyr Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I would like to be illuminated. Why does one need a "TT lamp" ... doesn't your room have any ceiling downlights? Regards, Andy 1
Under Hifi Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I would like to be illuminated. Why does one need a "TT lamp" ... doesn't your room have any ceiling downlights? Well I for one use one because I enjoy the directed light in the area of my turntable without having to light the rest of the room. Or to put it another way ambience as cafe67 says. Further, my house does not have downlights but I would still use a lamp for the above reason if it did.
Guest Misterioso Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks to this thread, I tried moving my Artemide Tizio 35 next to the turntable. I like the result and will leave it there.
tubularbells Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Picked one of these up from bunnings last week for the princely sum of $7.90 (incorrectly ticketed = WIN!) 1
Luc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks to this thread, I tried moving my Artemide Tizio 35 next to the turntable. I like the result and will leave it there. Came across some of these and I'd assume they were Chinese knock-offs at my local markets and I didn't buy one...now I wish I had seeing the 5 Hunge price for the real McCoy! * 75 bucks if your wondering, not sure of the quality
Guest Misterioso Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I was surprised as well. In nominal terms, I paid about 40% of the current price … in 1992.

Luc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) I was surprised as well. In nominal terms, I paid about 40% of the current price … in 1992. Well yes, a 22 year purchase gap might have something to do with that surprise. Available online in the US for about $190, plus shipping which wouldn't be that outrageous as it's not a heavy item. Luc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I just sold a genuine one now for $300 as someone really wanted it, I just corrected your message there... 1
manbat Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Check out http://edisonlightglobes.com/Shop/product/table-lamps/vintage-industrial-brass-small-table-lamp/ Melbourne based - can be custom made. If not for lamps - for all your other light bulb moments. 1
nattonrice Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This is precisely the one that I use, even down to the Swiss finished spiral bulb. I have mine on a variac I threw together, so there is no dimmer switch garbage to be picked up through the turntable or phono-pre. When turned down to just under half standard power there is this uber groovy warm orange glow that fills the room. If you want to see these bulbs in action then Sydney restaurants "Mr. Wong's" and "Ananas" use them for the same sort of mood lighting (just different styles of bulb).
tubularbells Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Here's the new globe in my Turntable lamp.......pretty cool huh!
