Chinese CDs Recommendation/Discussion

Featured Replies

I hunted around in Gramophone and none carry a CD of Tarcy Su 苏慧伦. If she was popular, how come none of the cd shops such as HMV, That CD shop or CD RAMA carry her CDs. Really unbelievable how popularity of Chinese pop artiste can be so short lived.

Any bros here can recommend other female artistes with voice like her or Sandy Lam? No dance techopop, no Tsai Chin, no mainland chinese artistes with so call hiend recordings please. Prefer CDs released from 2000 to current as recording and arrangement better. Thanks.

No need. Once scan auto discount. Else, ask her to scan to check the price before payment just to be sure.

Listen to the old albums of Valen Hsu. I think you would love it and she is damn chio to me. Kit Chan best collection is not bad either.

How about sharing the album cover and titles with fellow bros here as requested?

Many other singers also..

anyone went down to take a look

Thanks for the front cover & the CD pics but how about showing the tracks on the other side of the album cover together instead of just the front cover pic only?

I just went to China Square Central..The CDs are mostly 10-15..There are english, jazz, piano, new age, classical vocals and chinese evergreens. Besides Tsai Chin, there is Faye wong, Anita Mui, Teresa Teng, Sandy Lam, Fish Leong, Paula Tsui, Emi Fujita, Sarah Brightman, Kitaro, Lang Lang, Richard Clayderman, Andrea Borcelli, Hayley Westera etc

For 10 bucks I can take the risk and if it turns out good and audiophile quality then it is bonus. Worth a trip IMHO.

So does it turn out good and with audiophile quality? Pls do share with us.

Asi mentioned before the quality is good.. but you know cai qin some of the original records quite noisy .. but some of the titles(which i already owned) are some of the best quality i heard. sorry i do not have my camera with me now.. if got the chance i will take the title side of the album.

operated by one or two old gentlemen right? if yes, they were for some occasions operating at Anchor Point too. $10 is not too big a risk to take.

No joy with the Cai Qin K2HD disc from China Sq....it sounds bright and sibilant, and I wonder if the genuine article can sound so inferior to the Tong Li dsd series with German pressing. Ugh this is the second time I bought Cai Qin on this label, first time was from Dallas, equally bad SQ.

The Audiophile Voices CDs at China Sq are well recorded though and good value at $10. Do note however that these are china domestic pressings with chinese words and not the 24/192 versions sold internationally.

do take with a pinch of salt with all the jvc K2 lah....LPCD lah...or what ever labels with these $10 chinese press. u can see lots in 3D Laser in Chinatown..... i have no doubt that they are not truly what they are labelled. I have bought real bad records, and with some luck some good ones too.

hi alamak....all the tracks in mandarin or canto?

Yup. The packaging is soooo nice it's lagi deceptive.

Maybe with some remastering on the pc the discs may be listenable.
