Try Mavis Hee's Regret cd... Excellent recording and one of my all time favourite Chinese album.

The shopping centre near the immigration check point is Lo Hu and this is a pale in comparison with those who are only 3 or 4 subway stops away.

The cost for normal Audio CD is RMB15, K2HD Mastering is RMB25 and DSD retails at RMB35.  ;)

In my opinion, the best area for everything electronic (computers, ipod, cameras, everything you name it) is the HuaQiangBeiLu where you can spend the whole day exploring every shopping complex that are there. This area is more "upmarket" than Dongmen.

After the immigration, just  proceed on the left towards the subway .. on the right side is Lo Hu Shopping Comples. Travel to the 4th subway station called KeXueGuanand take exit B and walk away fromthe subway station with the main road on your left.

Another favourite place is the SEG Electronics Complex (10th floor I think) where you can get everything from from audio and videophile assessories, photography, components, computers, etc.

Take subway to HuaQiuLang and exit . Look across the screet and you will see SEG!

Happy Shopping in Shenzhen

I normally stay in Hongkong and make my trips to Shenzhen from there, Going there in the morning and returning at night.  The trains run as frequent as our MRTs, I never need to wait for more than 8 mins ...it is a bloodline for a lot of Chinese.  As I recall there are 2 big hotels along Hua Qiang North Road.  One of them is at the end called  "Pavilion".

Maybe I will stay a night for my next trip.

If you want to enjoy fine dinning in Cantonese then personally this is a must to dine eatery is the Shang Palace at the Shangri-la Hotel Shenzhen.

Otherwise inexpensive dinner is also available at the HuaQiangBei area (famous for its electronics, clothing, food and drink) where you can have a seafood (live fish, prawns, blue mussels, scallops, etc,) for less than RMB200 for four persons including beer. Take note .... avoid crabs (flower or mud or whatever crabs) at all cost as they can easily costs two thirds of the bill.

Alternatively go to the Dongmen Pedestrian Street (one of the many food streets eg BaquaLu Food Street, FenghuangLu Food Street) to have a damn inexpensive live seafood dinner.

Also, dont forget to have your coffee plus "yu tiao" at any of the KFC outlets ;).

Guys probably u may want to try this album which I got from friend. Collections of the 80's Chinese songs in jazz arrangement. Good recording and music arrangement. Juz luv it!

As commented by Audio, it is not necessary to spend a night at Shenzhen because the transport services are very efficient in Shenzhen to Hong Kong unlike travelling to JB. ;D.

However, should you decide to stay a night then would recommend the Metropark Hotel (owned and managed by Hong Kong group) which is inexpensive.  This is my favourite haunt whenever I am visiting Shenzhen on business or holiday because it is located in Dongmen and close to the pedestrain food street. The subway is only 10 mins walk.

where to buy this ??

Then forget about her....get this one instead.....

Tong Li - "Watching at Spring Wind"

Fantastic SQ, clean and very good soundstage....good song tracks as well.  Maybe it's the K2 Mastering HQCD thingy...can rival my 1:1 CDR recording.

yesterday i went to bras basah complex and adelphi , cannot find.

also went to basement to look for Oppo but shop closed , then went to CD acoustic to listen to Aktimate and Audioengine 5.

where you buy this cd ?

I cheated....I bought in Hong Kong.

Then I came back and talk to poeple about it.....no, not available in Roxy...sold out...maybe...but I seen New Disc Village selling.....people buying....last few visit still can see being displayed....QUICK!

For those who have this....my favourites are track 2, 5 and 7.  Like I have said in the other thread, reproduction so good that you can even hear Tong Li's saliva noise as she sings...very obvious at track 5, 1st verse.

where is New Disc Village ? quick leh ,  only few left.  ;D

if i don't hear Tong Li siliva noise  i throw away my system.  :-X

Don't be so drastic.  When I heard it last week, I thought it was just recording imperfections, I heard clicks and pops.  I was testing a few exotic speaker cables this week and only then I realised the clicks and pops are actually saliva noise!

As of 1.20pm this afternoon (21 May), NDV is still sporting this Tong Li CD on his shelf.

This reminds me of how we used to count the number of frog-croakings in a Cai Qin song ;) Perhaps listening out for Tong Li's saliva sound is the next reference benchmark!  ;D

regretted for not listening to u ;D bought two Xu Wen album and like none of them....recording is too euphoric and unreal....like added too much spices and MSG....

i like those recordings that are simple....and realistic...eg. unplugged , just guitar strumming kind of chinese songs.

anyone has any to recommend? just to give a clearer picture, i love the 2V1G album..

Akyah, you could have bought "Watching at Spring Wind" and not liking it like the other bro here.....also regret.  Taste for music is quite varied one lah....
