Not sure you're correct there, Mick.

 

In 1959, my father gave me a transistor radio when I was shipped off to boarding school.  It was about 10" wide, 6" high & 3" thick - with a hinged carrying handle above.

 

So "world's first hand-held transistor radio", maybe?

It’s the first junction transistor: The FET was actually invented first (I vaguely remembered that and had to look it up). 
 

But that really was the first transistor radio!

I did post a couple of loudspeakers that I thought fitted the 'Gorgeous Looking HiFi' title, so how about of couple of turntables.:thumb:
