Yep, thanks Hergest. I thought most knew of the label..

However I also thought DCC tape and machines were fantastic when new

I assume you've checked out Giant Sand?

Just listened to this Chris.  Really liked it.  Very similar to his solo stuff.

listened to a few last night with @Hensa   (Greg, you may need to correct the versions I've listed if not right ones)

We had a good chance to compare 3 versions of DSOTM

UK 1973, Japanese and 2016 UK reissue

in order of SQ

UK 1973

https://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon/release/4969785

Japanese

https://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon/release/1900715

2016 reissue

https://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon/release/9287809

and to be clear,  there was nothing at all missing from the 2016 UK reissue - it was fantastic..  The others were better but not a lot in it.  Anyone who intends getting the 2016 reissue can do much worse than the UK 2016 reissue....  Loved it

a few others from last night with @Hensa

From a recent delivery from Acoustic Sounds via @cheekyboy

Jacintha - Here's to Ben    45rpm Analogue Productions

https://www.discogs.com/Jacintha-Heres-To-Ben-A-Vocal-Tribute-To-Ben-Webster/release/4353118

Getz / Gilberto     45rpm Analogue Productions

https://www.discogs.com/Stan-Getz-João-Gilberto-Featuring-Antonio-Carlos-Jobim-Getz-Gilberto/release/3184377

Both were stunning and a great demonstration of the quality associated with these top end Analogue Production Albums @45rpm

another from last night

Vanessa Fernandez - Use Me

This is one Greg brought over and it sounds superb.  Another 45rpm and just oozed quality.  And you can tell why when you read up on it.

" Mastered by Bernie Grundman direct from the original 30 ips 1/4 inch analogue master "

SPECTRAL LORE - Gnosis

Perhaps a shade too metal for some but for those with an open mind check this one out. Greece is coming out with some really nice progressive stuff these past few years and this is no exception. I disagree with its "Atmospheric Black Metal" label as this is not Black Metal by any stretch, its way broader than that almost defying classification. Purely instrumental so those offended by shrieking vocals need not worry here.  Really enjoying it and eagerly await its vinyl release.

You can steam it from here.

Agreed. The vinyl version is very good too.

Giant Sands catalogue is a bit spotty in places, but there's some gems in there. IMO

Also on their Bandcamp page too: https://spectrallore.bandcamp.com/album/gnosis

Giving it a listen.  Just wish my Squeezebox would still stream my Bandcamp collection. :(

Hiroshi - Fission - pretty ordinary 1984 Aussie album of lite Level 42 type jazz. Contacted via discogs by some guy in the US that wants it.  He offered $75 so its his.  not worth the $2 I payed for it imo, but beauty is all in the mind of the beholder.   Anyway, its off to the USA

Lloyd Cole & The Commotions - Rattlesnakes.  I had the Aussie pressing of this classik album for 30 years.  the only album I owned where the CD sounded better.  Then last year I bought the original UK pressing @ Sister Ray records when I was on holidays.

Fcuk me!!  Sound amazing  :love

Some more new arrivals

Josephine - Portrait

Her voice reminds of a famous 1960s American singer - female out of Jefferson Airplane (??). Can't pick it for the life of me.

Excellent album. Only downside is paper/cardboard inners. Cleaned it twice but still some noise every now and then.

Enjoyed it though.

Yes, the UK version used to be one of my demo discs back in the 80's.

Sadly, I've lost my copy.

That, was pretty bloody good actually.

The guitars kinda had that sound of 'black metal' from my limited listening of that genre towards the start, but yeah, the strings later on sure as hell weren't.  Nice.

Will have to give their other albums a listen.

I wonder if my use of the words bloody and hell help towards black metal. :D
