CUTS - EP1 (Flesh coloured vinyl? Maybe, if you're an albino!)

"CUTS are one of the lucky few acts to be signed to Portishead mastermind Geoff Barrow's Invada Records label. Dark, brooding and sonically powerful - CUTS' debut EP shows them to be a startlingly well realised act; sounding like a lovechild of the best of My Bloody Valentine and Massive Attack."

Another SNA recommendation, that I would otherwise have bypassed. Very atmospheric, moody and noisey.

Sven Vath - In The Mix: The Sound Of The Second Season: Noche Y Dia - 2CD - 2001

This mix hasn't aged a bit. Look at that track listing all killer, no filler. I'm not a huge fan of the cover of Icehouse's Hey Little Girl, but like how Sven works it into Samuel L. Sessions, then into the Christian Morgenstern track.

Just discovered this album from last year and all I have to say it is a real real sonic feast.

Electronic, industrial, house, middle eastern, synthwave, metal, tribal, operatic..........all of the above. A few twists and turns after the opening track which is gorgeous btw.

Here is the quote I found on the net that got me looking at it:

iVardensphere â€“ The Methuselah Tree.

I file iVardensphere in my “Electro-Industrial†folder in Spotify, but tbh these guys defy all classification. This album has to be experienced, it’s an electro-tribal imperative. After every listen I come away feeling that I’ve just experienced something deeply profound, something serious as **** that puts everything else into sharp perspective. I can barely begin to describe it.

New EP from Aphex Twin on WARP Records.

The label says 33 or 45 RPM. This is a review of the EP being played at 33RPM. ;)

Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Part 2 - 12"EP - 2015

Oh wow! He's back. This isn't 'dance music' it's not even 'IDM'. It's RDJ experimenting and pushing boundaries with Computer Controlled Acoustic Intsruments.

Think Alberto Balsalm or Acrid Avid Jam Shreds from ICBYD meeting up with his prepared piano genius on Drukqs.

5 out of 5. Brilliant.

Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 lp

Sounds bloody fantastic, and nothing like Syro. Don't get the bad reviews.

Something's a bit screwy with the site, as the last post attributed to EVcali is actually one I made, not EVcali. :(

and I thought it was posted by @@ferchersan who has been raving how good this is. One more straight to the "to buy" list.

I love the new Aphex Twin. Best played at 33RPM though ;)

Okay - I don't get it, according to my Squeezbox Web App this file is 128KBPS but when listening to it through my portable and desktop rig's it sounds just fine, sure not DSD/SACD quality but extremely listenable. Anyway, here's Ame laying down a proper Tech House set during the Electric Zoo after party...

I'm really fascinated with the new Aphex Twin EP, Computer Controlled Instruments Part 2.

"I long for instruments obedient to my thought and whim, with their contribution of a whole new world of unsuspected sounds, which will lend themselves to the exigencies of my inner rhythm."

- Edgard Varèse. June 1917.

In November 2014 RDJ was interviewed by Dave Noyze of the Noyzelab blog. Being a musician and inventor himself, Dave got RDJ to open up, sharing many secrets over the ourse of a two part interview. This was an absolute goldmine of ideas for the aspiring and technically minded. Scattered amongst the two part interview were numerous Soundcloud links (since removed) containing new Aphex Twin material at various stages of completion. I dilligently copied all of the Soundcloud links and added the interview to my Evernote folder. It seems that all traces of the interview have been removed from the web, and oddly enough, all of the text has disappeared from my Evernote account. RDJ himself has always been a bit of an enigma. The Noyzelab interviews gave more insight into RDJ and his ideas, than the last 25 years has uncovered. Here was RDJ opening up and explaining his wizardry. Giving away trade secrets, naming synths and patches used and also, his ideas for future projects. The talk turned to robotics and commissioning robots to play his most demanding compositions. It was starting to sound like RDJ was having us on, or was he? Two other great iconaclasts of the avant guard, both Edgard Varese and Frank Zappa dreamed of the same, many years ago. Back in the days when a computer was the size of a whole room. The project was made possible with the creation of the SNAR_2 robotic drum machine (http://www.logosfoundation.org/instrum_gwr/snar2.html). The object is now available for you to take home, in the form of Computer Controlled Acoustic Intruments Part II. For those of us who claimed Syro was a departure from the challenging Aphex Twin of the past, here he is doing what he does best. Innovating. Challenging. Creating.

There are rumours floating around via Pitchfork and We Are The Music Makers that Aphex is releasing more new material vis Soundcloud over the last few days. Decide for yourself: http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/648-if-this-aphex-twin-archive-is-fake-we-dont-want-to-know-what-real-is/

That's more than a little disturbing Leigh.  Has the entire note been deleted from your Evernote account, or just the links?  I've never noticed any amendments/deletions being made in mine, but I've always been suspicious of cloud based apps.  Hearing your experience does little to build my confidence.

Back on track, I listened to Thom Yorke's latest last night:

It didn't really do anything for me on first listen, but I'll give it a few more spins before writing it off.

Igorr & Ruby Mr Dear: Maigre

I believe this is called breakcore - mebbe someone could explain that to me? And mashup - I get that bit. Don't think you cd dance to it, but it's pretty hilarious.

Also, DJ Shepdog: Greatest Licks Vol 2

Mashed up hip hop & reggae - splendid!

All from Bandcamp - where artists get paid. I've noticed a lot of the mashup makers don't ask for money.

ALso - check out Reizoko Cj - a Russkie DJ. He's got serious mixage aptitude, gazillions of samples, and lots of humour.

Hi ABG,

The note remains in my Evernote folder containing all of the links to external sites, but the text from the article has disappeared. It may just be a synchronisation issue. Who knows?

Cheers,

LF :)
