darthlaker
Absolute Hi End posted a picture of The Adelphi mall in Singapore on Facebook the other day. It brought back very fond memories when I lived in Singapore during the 2000's. NO SNA member visiting Singapore should miss it. For those that have been there I am sure you will get some of my recollections (below)! I have been there more times than I could count! I had a job downtown which was only a few MRT stops away, I could do a quick visit during my lunch hour.....VERY dangerous! A magical place where credit cards get maxed out and wallets get emptied....worse than a casino! The Adelphi also has a unique smell that hits you when you walk in. Can’t put my finger on it but a mixture of sweat, vinyl, printed circuit boards, fortune sticks etc etc …. and a touch of some sort of Mojo ….. intoxicating! They should bottle it and sell it as a cologne - call it - of course - Adelphi! And for those of you that are suffering from Adelphi withdrawal symptoms, there’s always the latest Adelphi walk around video on YouTube!!! Come on, I know we all will love this!!! Sigh, I think I need to go back there soon.......yes, I know, sad, sad, sad man!

That sweat smell was coming from the massage joints in the basement. Not sure where they stuck the fortune sticks .Unfortunately they were all closed in 2016. I might give another visit anyway. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/adelphi-tenants-laud-sleaze-cleanup?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&xtor=CS1-10#link_time=1473724889

darthlaker
Another addition to The Death Star: A beautiful photo of Blondie in her New York apartment with Andy Wahol's portrait (worth a few million) on top of her radiator (as you do!). Love this piece! (And yes, she is holding a whip in her hand!) 5

darthlaker
Cool Yello story! “Boris played me an instrumental that I couldn’t think of anything to play,” remembers Dieter Meier. “He asked me to imagine sitting on a beach while the sun goes down, the first martini is served and you slowly fall asleep. That’s how the exclamation ‘Oh yeah’ came about – probably the shortest Dadaist text in the history of pop music. When I enter America, I’m always asked at customs if I’ve published anything well-known when I say ‘musician’. I always answer ‘Oh yeaaaaaaaaah’ and can usually go through straight away…”
