Im actually really starting to enjoy it now.

Ive mostly used it as i did my last DAC, playing Spotify through the USB input and balanced outputs to the Luxman. The first thing thats different to the NAD M51 is the midbass. Its a lot more pronounced making drums sound bigger and deeper. However, i feel it doesn go as subsonic as the M51, instead blooming out the midrange a bit more.

Channel separation is better with a wider soundstage. Centre image is better. Theres more detail but this comes at the price of some harshness to whiney vocals.

It does sound like a step up over the M51 for what i need out of a system. Works a lot better with the Pop Rock stuff i listen to. It sounds like the Rock EQ setting on your car stereo vs the NAD which sounds like the Jazz setting.

I might post a little review later with some pics on build quality, as this thing is just great to use. The drawer, the feet, the feel of this thing is rivaled only by the Luxman and VPI. It matches nicely with the system.

So, quick system update. Ive packed up all the good stuff and I've decided to run a super simple digital system for the time being. So its a NAD D7050 run from a customer HTPC powering the Verity Finns.

The reasons for this are two fold

- Keeping the good gear dust free was a nightmare, i couldnt stand looking at them covered in dust during our renovations

- As we start on the house, i dont want any of this stuff in harms way

I've always been impressed with the NAD, i think it does a great job at what it needs to. This is connected to the HTPC via USB. I also have a Chromescast Audio which i use when the PC is on the workbench. My main source is Spotify and the system does a great job at making it sound reasonable.

Time for an update, i havent been very active on here lately. SNA has been blocked at work, so i have to do it on tapatalk or wait till i get home.

The system was packed up in a cupboard for a long time, and has only recently seen the light of day. I moved in with my girlfriend and have been given a small say in what appears in the living room. Lukcily, shes a bit of music lover so understands the stereo (to an extent). So ive recently learnt the meaning of WAF (or GAF, in my case)

I picked up a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 2's to use in the office. Today i thought i would get them into the main room and take some quick shots to show how massive these things are. The bass out of these things is stupidly good, there's very little refinement in the midrange and treble in comaprison to the Veritys, but they certainly rock!

Heres some pics

Full system, with the Yamaha doing DAC work and the Luxman still in use.

A very classic design

The stands are something I borrowed from work, they are 800mm high (about 200mm too much) but they are all steel and solid as a rock

The MA's back at the desk now. Its always good to put new speakers in the existing system just to see whats missing. In this case, the Verity Finns (at 10x the price) are still kings.

@RockandorRoll

Hi mate. Nice to have you back and really good to know you found a nice lady partner.  I remember when you asked the question ( wink, wink ) and I am very happy for you.

The Silvers are a nice series and as you say, not a competitor to the Verity, but compared to the competition at, or even twice their price, they are almost unbeatable. The great thing about MA is they sound great, have huge GAF or WAF as you are discovering and the value for money is outstanding

Cheers

Good to see your still kicking as well @rantan, Ive noticed that'people tend to rotate activity on here.

The Silvers do very well for what they are. They feel like they would be a great party speaker and something worth hanging onto. I couldn't believe that such a speaker existed, bookshelf with an 8" woofer, how cool is that! It seems like an old school mentality to speaker design.

They sound really good in the office, im happy that the little NAD can run them.

I haven't updated this in a long time. Probably because i dont have much to tell.

I have fixed my media PC which runs Roon perfectly and ive upgraded the cart to a Quintet Black. Now i have two Ortofon Blacks!

Here it is mounted, sits much nicer on the table, no headshell weight required. Seems to sit higher off the record as well.

Another quick update. Moved to temporary housing in the house that we are renovating until I find something to buy. Still found time to set a little system up while the rest is in storage. Monitor Audio Silver 2 driven by the NAD D7050

Nice looking system.   Have you had any boominess with the speakers inside the cabinet?

Yes, there is a bit of boominess, but it's better than I thought. The back of the cabinet has multiple cut outs for cables so maybe that makes a difference. They are a bit close to the edge if I was to put them next to the TV, so I figure this was safer.

Moved out to the country, have a dedicated Study/place of music. Have kept the system simple as life has gotten harder! Puppy and Baby both seem to enjoy the system. The little fella loves looking at the VU meters

@Amber Technology, from about page 5 onwards are where the images start.

In 6 months, this should look a bit different again...

I envy simplicity.

It is really liberating not to have complexity that is not really needed.

My own system is similar with TT, CD and (of course ) a Luxman L550 A II amplifier, although I do have an outboard phono stage as well.

I remember hearing this actual system many years ago and it sounded superb and the fact that it has not changed attests to this completely.

The Verity Finns and the Luxman are a wonderful match that just puts a smile on your face.😍
