Where to buy denon 3805 or marantz 7500

Featured Replies

I'm (finally) looking at buying myself a new AV receiver. On advice obtained in this very forum I am looking at either the Denon 3805 or the Marantz 7500. My preference would be the marantz, but it may come down to price.

Where (in Melbourne) can I find these, and what should I be looking at paying (not RRP)?

Given the 3806 is out soon, I was hoping I might be able to get a good deal on the 3805. The places I've been to either seem to stock low end (eg JB HiFi) or high end (eg Encel, Tivoli) stuff.

Thanks

EDIT: Corrected title, had incorrect model number

Try Secher Audio in Camberwell. I heard recently they had the Denon AVR-3805 at $1999. I've dealt with them and they seem pretty good to me.

Try Carlton Audio Visual.

Don't forget the Yamaha 4600 has been heavily discounted and is well worth a look in this range..

I agree nobby, for $1990 currently at eastwood, I'd even change to the dark side on the 4600 over the other two

Just to follow up. Thanks for all the great suggestions. After much traveling around and discussing price with people, I ended up getting the Marantz 7500 (had to wait a week to get the silver one, which is why this post is only happening now!) for $1500 from HiFi Supermarket.

I was leaning towards the marantz anyway, and everywhere else I spoke to wanted much closer to $2k for the denon, so this was a great deal for me :-)

I've just finished setting it up, and am listening to it now. Very easy setup, looks great, and sounds brillant!

Now I think I need new speakers... *evil grin*

Thanks again!
