What is JPlay, please? It is another alternative to BubbleUpnp?

Yes, but it's audio-grade, which means it costs more—$299 for a lifetime license. I also have a lifetime Roon license from before. JPlay is only available in the iOS ecosystem. After experiencing the sound quality of Qobuz directly on the Esoteric N1T, I wish I hadn’t bought JPlay. Oh well, supporting innovation is still a good deed. At least I will be going to heaven from all these good deeds with high-end audio purchases. 😬😁

Due to the effortless clarity produced by the M7s, I was wondering if your listening volume has increased significantly, compared to pre M7s, I know this is very room dependent but I was wondering what db seems ideal now with the M7s?

@AccMagi7s, I wouldn't be surprised if you already have this lp and should give a spin. This album should give sense of that you are among the crowds inside the Carnage hall.

An excellent question. SteveM was present, and you are aware of his commitment to employing both empirical and scientific approaches. He adopted a traditional method of listening from using his hearing follow by using his iPhone to measure dB and other relevant measurements. At 89dB, it appears that they were attempting to demonstrate the capabilities of the M7s, although the level of music at that point is quite enjoyable. Personally, I would prefer to listen at approximately 80-85dB.

Thanks for replying, constant dB above 80 is certainly detrimental to good long term hearing, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Was 89dB using weighting A or C?

I can tell you, my hearing took a dive not long after my partner discovered the M7s. I had some time to reflect, but I couldn't measure the volume of her voice – though it was definitely not soft! At least with the M7s, the music is vibrant and enjoyable, providing a sense of joy even amidst the noise. With her, though, there was only the profound silence from my side, a stark contrast to the lively soundscapes I now embrace.😁

Regardless, thank you @awayward! I will take note of that and try to prolong my enjoyment with M7s. However, in side the house, there is no chance but hearing lost. 🤣

In recent times, I have been closely following the MSB camp, aware that it may seem out of reach. Yet, dreaming about them feels just like when I aspired to own a pair of Magico M6s several years ago. I believe we can all turn our dreams into reality through hard work and by embracing our strengths. My journey has proven that reality can surpass our dreams, as it did for me with the M7s. If this is achievable, then the Sentinel may also be within our grasp.🫣

May the divine be merciful and heed my supplications.

I think MSB offers 90% trade-in credit on Cascade for Sentinel. Or that might only be in the US, don't know how they going to play that in Australia. Sentinel is silly money, I heard US$350K-ish.

US$350,000 is equivalent to AU$532,822.34 for a digital-to-analog converter! In that case, it’s a dream from a dream. Perhaps a set of Cascade DAC is where it should all be?😰

MSB use Magico M2 speakers in their listening room, so you are a few levels higher than them.

Indeed, the Magico M2 and Estelon speakers were used for the research and development of their DAC and power amplifiers. The M2s are at least closer to the M7s. Do you know which speakers Esoteric used to test their electronics?

Esoteric use B&W 800 d3 and Tannoys.

That's quite intriguing. The Esoteric N1T sounds very good here.

I suppose that it is a compliment to your speakers/system that less than ideal audio quality was not picked up by your guests/listeners 😃

The  difference the Magico M7’s make outweighs ( by a very wide margin)  the difference between Airplay and Qobuz connect

I know they use those in their instagram posts and  demo rooms. However I was told by a dealer overseas that they don’t reveal the actual range of speakers they use to test and develop their equipment.

I just watched a YT visit of the Esoteric hq, and they showed the B&W's but they did say Tannoys as well amonst others. Either way, the stuff they build is exceptional.

B&W speakers in particular are highly valued in Japan.  As are JBL. Accuphase also  does demonstrations  with B&W speakers .  I'm not sure that it means much .

On a serious note, the room is quite large. I am curious to know if the B&W 801 or even 800s will adequately fill the room’s dimensions. The room appears to be approximately 8 metres wide, 9 metres long, and has a height of 3.2 metres.

At long last, Friday has graced us with its presence! I can hardly remember the last time I felt such a surge of excitement as the weekend approaches. Tonight promises to be a magical sake night in the music room, where the chilled sake will set the perfect mood for a truly relaxing evening.

I find myself captivated by the dream of an extraordinary audio setup—one that seems like a fantasy for many, including myself. Picture this: a pair of stunning Magico M9s paired with the Waldax Reference Server and DAC. This configuration alone boasts a staggering value of AU$2.5 million. Together, this exquisite setup approaches an astonishing AU$4 million! Just imagine the allure of such a sonic marvel!
