Been a while - missed you Lou - now it feels like a Perfect Day again  🥰

The second rock release from the new Rhino Hi-fidelity special edition series limited to 5000.

First being The Cars - The Cars (now sold out). Now this one - Van Morrison - His Band and the Street Choir. Still available at Rhino. So far with how great the first Two release have been, I’ll be continuing to get every release, they also do a Jazz one each time. Doing a release quarterly/every 3 months at this stage.

Album starts off with the hit Domino. But my favourite on this album is the last song on side 1. I’ll be your lover, too.

The quality of the pressing and especially the cover is close to the best Ive seen.

Ok i didn't even think to look at Warner to order it. Great to know. Thanks. I ordered directly from Rhino.

I haven’t owned this album previously, but would be surprised if they sound any better than this. I think everything about this is great. Looking forward to see what else they release in this series.

Glad you found your way to this thread, Glenn. I suspected from your great intro post where I replied and mentioned this thread that it wouldn't be too long before you dive in.

Welcome to one of the best threads on the entire site. The regulars in here are a wonderful bunch who regularly find ways to inspire my listening and my buying habits (Looking at you, @April Snow and you pointing me at some of the Kevin Gray goodness out there, and you @Bisguittin and your constant cartridge juggling!).

Enjoy yourself, Glenn.

Thanks El Tel for pointing me in this direction for a great thread. Looking forward to exploring it and hopefully help in my discovery of new albums or places to pick them up from.

Kevin Gray can’t do a thing wrong lately. Everything he is involved with is top shelf.

Yeah - the Marvin Gaye - What's Going On master that @April Snow put me onto is fabulous.

Unfortunately I am unable to participate in this thread at present as I can't jockey the vinyl due to breaking my leg 8 weeks ago and being restricted with mobility (especially lack of spare hands to carry stuff from the shelves to the TT). As soon as I am able, it's going to be on like Donkey Kong.

Tool 'Fear Inoculum'

I am excited to hear it sounds great, I have never heard or owned this LP either, so anxiously await for it to arrive. Thanks for the lovely post.

Awwwwww you poor thing - that is awful, I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to your posts.

Nice to know I am enabling others as well as getting enabled myself too 😊

I did enjoy it a lot, I know that album very well and like specially that song. Don’t have nothing else to compare, I believe includes additional tracks not found in the original album.

Yes, I have it and I am only comparing with my CD and IMO, the 25th anniversary LP didn't compare favourably.

Last night, post 2 movies:

Thijs Van Leer "O My Love" Oz 1st pressing.

With the latter albums change of musical direction from their previous proggy output, I see these two albums almost as companion pieces.

I have both. I haven't opened the 25th yet. I'm surprised the 25th wouldn't be better.

I'll be interested to hear what you think when you do open it.👍

Supertramp - Crime of the Century. MoFi 1979 (NM/VG+)

Looks like I’m posting twice today. Just had this delivered, one of my all time favourite albums. Ive had about 5 different copies, all Australian Pressings of it over the years but none better than VG.

Apparently the Speakers Corner reissue of it is the one to have but prices of it go north of $500. Had a mate recommend to get the MoFi if i could find one as next best. Next day i get an email from Discrepancy records in Melb. of a large amount of used MoFi albums just listed. And there it was! I can’t imagine the Speakers Corner sound much better than this.

IMO you want the Canadian Audiophile version.

I fear it's too late Tel. The longbody Koetsu Rosewood was irresistible.

Great album. I only have this release: https://www.discogs.com/release/2068978-Supertramp-Crime-Of-The-Century but always on the lookout for value alternatives. The track "School" is one of my go-to tracks when demoing new kit or changing components in/out.

Ok cool thanks Bisguittin, i had heard about that pressing, i think Steve Westman on YouTube. I will add it to my Discogs wants - not that i ever really buy anything from it - but like to have it sitting their in case i find something at a record fair to check if thats the version i do what. Can’t imagine to many of that Canadian copy are here in OZ?

Have to say this Mofi version is pretty awesome.

I keep finding what are visually appear to be VG+ or better at bookstores or record fares but then get them home and being such a great album they have been thrashed and are barely a VG when playing. So happy to have a NM of what is a great pressing. The Bass on School on this pressing is best i’ve heard.

got a cat no. for that Leon? If not, any other identifying facts - year, repress, remaster etc etc?

Had an awesome listening session on Sundays at @scuzzii ‘s. Interesting combination from Patricia Barber to Nothing but thieves with Van Halen and Boz Scaggs in between 🙂

Back home with this fantastic album

Greensleeves Shoji Yokouchi Trio, just beautiful.

One great pressing there. Always holds up well as a demo disc.
