slowly upgrading to better gear, but this is where I am at right now.

Speaker upgrade later this year.

I'm going to move the TV a bit lower on the wall. It's a 50" but looks small as the room is almost 6m wide x 13 metres long and 3.3 metre ceiling height ... not the easiest room for music

love it

out of curiosity what speakers are you using?

Mmm. Minamalist design, black and white, slimline black components in view.

Simplistic elegance.

I know what you mean by 50" looks small. My room is half the size of yours in length and past the half-way point of 4 metres, I wish I had 100" projection screen.

Aaron ATS-5's, the room really needs big floorstanders. A Sub is on the shopping list

thanks John, the wife wouldn't have it any other way  Went through a LOT of grief when she saw the speakers so the next pair need to sound and look good.

wow ... they are a bit over the top. Form over function with these?

hi lebowski..

my parently have a tremendously large room and had difficulty with getting good sound in it. we tried a few pairs of speakers, but with glass directly behind the speaker positions, they were simply unable to make enough bass. they were loud enough in the treble, but the room just swallowed the low end.

they ended up with a pair of bookshelves and a 12" long throw active sub. the bookshelves are nice and the sub is in a corner and is capable of the volumes they need.

my advice would be to go for a separate active sub, and to make sure you're able to listen to the potential setup in your room before committing to spending the money.

good luck!

oh, and that's a very nice looking setup you have there

Great looking setup there.......clean and sterile look.....scalpel please nurse!

I'm going to move the TV a bit lower on the wall.

Good idea. Was wondering how you were coping with the stiff necks.

Great looking system, Lebowski. Congrats on your progress so far!

Cheers

thanks Kye. The room is very bright with loads of reflections. I find my system sounds good at low to medium volumes but at high volume it's all over the place and quite unpleasent. Like you say, a Sub is the way to go for this room and we'll add more soft furnishings along the way.

Cheers

yeah it's a bit clinical, mainly due to the fact that our reno went WAY... over budget and we have no money left for furniture

cheers Wolster. Seemed like a good idea at the time to have the TV set high as we can watch it from anywhere in the room, but not so good when sitting down for a movie etc.

Beautiful... Earle make some nice stuff that's for sure. Enjoy

Congrats, Lebowski. Must admit I am struggling a bit with that amp - is that a 300B push/pull monoblock, or is it a 300B SET 2 channel power amp?

300b SET 2 channel.

300B SET Integrated. My mistake was listening to djb's.

VAF DCX Gen 4 Mk 2. I prefer them with tube power.

Congrats Mark. Enough juice for your big room?

Are you going to get some Tannoy Concentric next?

G'day Mark,

She's a beauty  Great pics too - well done.

Keen to hear your impressions once she's settled in after a few weeks.

Cheers, Dave :)

Are you going to get some Tannoy Concentric next?:)

thanks Jasper.

Power was my biggest concern but for my listening levels the Time Machine/VAF combo is working well. I even had some Pixies playing on the weekend and had enough headroom, I didn't realise Black Francis has such a lovely singing voice B)

You are welcome to drop by and have a listen anytime.

As for the Tannoys , maybe one day.
