Looking for a MIXER!

Featured Replies

One of my New Year's resolutions is to learn how to use the oven and bake cakes, bread and cookies.

I am in the market for a good mixer, saw a few good ones at DJ. Kenwood has one that looks PRO and well built but on closer look it is not as good as the Kitchen Aid mixer. Any users of Kitchen Aid mixers? Where is the best place to get one in Sydney?

I was going to say - get the Kitchenaid Mixer. I don't have one, because I don't bake breads and pastries very often. Having said that, i'm having a pizza party tonight and will shortly be making the pizza dough by hand! A good friend of mine (Shiny Car) has one. You can get all sorts of attachments for it, including a pasta making attachment.

Yep KitchenAid is the go. We have the blender and plan to soon grab one of the food processors too. Not cheap by a long shot but worth the money.

I just knew you'd be the first to respond to this!

That Kitchenaid looks really schmick :)

We have a Kitchen Aid too. It's very well built and super quiet. Expensive, but worth it.

There's also a 25 yr old Kenwood in the family, aside from being as noisy as a woodchipper it still does the job just fine too!

Hi Jack,

We are a two mixer family - Kenwood Major and the Kitchenaid. A lot of cooking and much breadmaking. Both will be a happy experience with the Kitchenaid being a much funkier look. Our previous Kenwood Chef died after years of abuse and was replaced by the Kitchenaid. The Kenwood Major arrived during a particularly intense breadmaking period - gruntier and bigger bowl. The Kitchenaid is a bit noisier.

For biscuits and cakes either is a good choice.

Thanks guys for all your inputs.

Just went in DJ and placed my order for a Majestic Yellow and got some discount too. :-)

Kevin,

Must meet to learn more about coffee and cookies.

Any time next week?

Similar thoughts to Kevin.

I have a Kitchenaide at home..(white enamel)

really only beacuse of the retro styling and not much else.

Having now used both the Kitchen Aide and the Kenwood Major I truly believe the Major to be the better machine to use.

When I had them side by side with an option to use either, the Kenwood got the guernsey every time.

But in my case the Major went to work and the Kitchen-aide came home.

Imo if you want a work horse get the Kenwood Major if you want something with style buy th Kitchen Aide.

Hi Joz,

Just looked up the net on Kenwood, this got to be more expensive than the Kitchaid.

I think I will go for the Kitchenaid to start, might upgrade to Kenwood when I am ready for it.

Thanks for your advice.

Jack

No probs Smithy.

Really for an occasional user and for style the kitchen aide is good, very good.

But when things get more serious the Kenwood would be the weapon of choice to do battle if you know what I mean. The next step is really the bigger commercial offerings.

FMD!!

we have a kitchen aid at home and it has been used and abused for many years and has yet to skip a beat.

My parents had an old kenwood which also lasted for ever.

I doubt you could go wrong with either

I've used a behringer mixer

Some say it spoils the quality but I found it to my taste at the time

We've got a Kenwood mixer, which we bought new over thirty years ago, still going strong according to the one that uses it.

Now JCR, with your impeccable sound system and musical tastes, we obviously will need feedback from third parties regarding the quality of these new skills of yours, Tis a pity you’re in NSW as I’m a sweet tooth from way back, but never the less I’m sure there will be plenty of recruits to sample your wares. :)

PS good luck with your new venture into cooking.
