I though I'd start a thread for Terminator users - there must be a few in AU (& NZ)? Based originally on a concept by Poul Ladegaard, a Brüel & Kjaer engineer in Denmark, the Terminator product was developed by Trans-Fi Audio in England. I've had this one since 2013. Here it is mounted on a Technics SP-10 MkII...... Cheers, Owen Dark Lantern blog - http://darklanternforowen.wordpress.com/

This is the original Wand Tonearm, a beautifully designed and made tonearm that put NZ firmly on the audio map along with its Amps. Thats almost up there with NZs musos, but they started earlier :). It comes with the set up gear which on its own is worth over $100, it a great tool this includes the arm lowering lever and all up cost about $1500 I think, it was used for a couple of years until I got my FR7 going ( it is built in to its own headshell.)

Further Information: RRP TT - ~$5000 with rega arm RRP TA- ~$2000 It was a serendipitous moment when I was able to find the Acoustic Solid with no tonearm and concurrently the Zephyr was available. The pairing has been an absolute wonder, to the point I would like to move to a better level of arm and possibly turntable. Hence my EOI. If someone is interested in the tonearm, I am happy to separate them and then upgrade using the Acoustic solid as the platform, though I think it will be better for everyone to keep these units together. The 10x5 isn’t included, though can be by negotiation. I have the original boxes, so shipping is fine (though the zephyr’s box got wet ( without the Tonearm in it) so looks a bit rough. the Zephyr was upgraded with silver wire prior to my ownership. I had a Delrin sleeve machined to help hold the arm on the metal arm board of the Acoustic Solid whilst reducing resonance. It works really well, though VTA adjustment is a little tricky initially. Happy to discuss or demo. the price includes the original Perspex Matt and an upgraded one.

I have aquired a Grace g-707 that has been trashed and I'm restoring it. The metal parts of the arm are in good condition, part of the anti-skating assembly was cracked, but repairable, but the headshell is completely missing. So what I want to do is 3D print a replacement headshell. Using images on the internet I can get a pretty good idea of the geometry, but for accuracy I need actual measurements. Is there a g-707 owner out there who can get a ruler, or better yet some calipers and give me the dimensions? Only need the headshell, not the arm. Here are the measurements I need (in rough order of priority): width length max depth (at the back) min depth (at the front) outside diameter of the arm mounting tube length of the arm mounting tube distance from front to start of screw holes length of screw holes width of screw holes spacing of screw holes (should be 1/2", yes?) thickness of the plastic lastly, if you can measure the angle between the arm and the headshell that would be great. You can refer to the image to see what I'm talking about. If you can't be bothered doing them all then just the length, width and depth would be a great help.

Howdy all, not sure if this should be here or in the "Beginners & Purchasing Advice" section, please feel free to move if it is more suitable there. Roughly four and a half months ago I purchased Betty the SL120 : Betty and I have shared some amazing moments together in our short time, as such I feel she deserves a special treat. All silliness aside, I have just purchased an Ortofon 2M Blue to replace the cart that came with the TT and I am now considering upgrading the tonearm. I am wondering if this is a worthwhile investment and if so where a good starting point would be, and I suppose as a secondary question would I be better off spending the money somewhere else in the system? I am not sure how relevant all the other info is but here is the system as it stands: - SL120 Fitted with an SL1200 MK II arm - Ortofon OM ProS (About to be replaced with the OM2 Blue) - Yamaha AX-497 Amplifier (Using the amps built in phono stage) - Dali Concept 6 and B&W DM602 S3s (Currently having a shoot out between the speakers to decide which stays) I understand that with the new cart, a tonearm would see me spending well over what the TT cost me to begin with however there is something about the old Technics TTs that appeals to me. Any suggestions and/or advice appreciated. Cheers, Terry

Hi All, I have just taken delivery of a Kenwood KP-9010. I love these beasts, I also have a KP-7010 and a KP-1100 (soon). I know I don't need to tell anyone here what happens when you get hooked on one particular brand or model The 9010 has just arrived and essentially it's in beautiful condition and generally speaking operates flawlessly. you know there's a "but" coming... But, the tonearm lift mechanism is not working as it should. My 7010 lifts and lowers very smoothly but this 9010 drops the tonearm like a stone. It's less than subtle. I've read through a service manual for a similar turntable but there's nothing specific about the mechanical servicing of this component. I'm just wondering if anyone on Stereo.net has had any experience with this particular fault on these Kenwoods or might have some suggestions please? And I'm sorry there's no pics, in my excitement yesterday when it arrived I spent all my time setting up the tonearm, headshell and cartridge and then listening to records I simply forgot. I'll post some pics tonight, I promise.

I’ve been looking at a possible upgrade to my trusty green Rega RP6 with rb303 tonearm and upgraded counterweight by Michael Lim. Just wondering if anyone knows if the Audiomods Classis V tonearm would be a worthwhile investment? I eventually would like to keep this as my second turntable and would like something that would compete favourably with either a Rega P8 or VPI Prime Scout . Any thoughts and or experience would be appreciated. Till then, keep spinning and enjoy

Could members who have experience with the SME3009/2 please give me some advice as to what the current market value for one of these tonearms is? I have seen them from $800 to $1200 USD on the bay. Thanks

Hi All, A friend who owns an original Rega P3 asked me if it’s possible to get a replacement tonearm? I don’t know what happened to the original but What’s the recommendation or is it more “price” sensible to purchase a new tt & arm (perhaps a new Rega)? thoughts are appreciated.

Hello. I want to know if anyone has used this tonearm. Opinions? Also, used with low compliance carts, such as the Denon 103R or DL-301 MkII... Cheers:)

Hey guys, Hifi out of boxes yesterday. Unfortunately my Ortofon Rondo Bronze is no longer with us and will need replacing. All was insured so now looking for a replacement with a budget of around $2000. People on this part of the forum seem extremely knowledgable about analogue so I would love any suggestions that you might have. My system details are as below and I listen to a combination of jazz, pop, classic rock and some classical on vinyl. Also...Anyone in Sydney willing to teach me replacement and setup of the tonearm and cartridge over some food and music? Cheers...

Can anyone recommend someone who can repair my SME 3009 tonearm which has developed a bit of a hum. I live in Hawthorn so someone relatively close-by would be great. Thanks for your help!

Hi all, Just swapping out the cart on my Rega P25 and as the rca cables are not marked as L and R or color coded I though I would meter out the cables and mark them. This is where the problem starts. The cart indicates that Red and Green are the Right channel pair and White and Blue are the Left channel pair which I assume is an industry standard. When I meter out the the cables they don't seem to match. The red wire at the cartridge end goes to the centre pin of one lead with 1.2 ohms resistance, The green wire goes to the outer of the opposite rca (I assume the outer is the negative) with a resistance of 1.2 ohms. The white wire goes to the centre pin of the other rca with 1.2 ohms resistance and the blue wire goes to the opposite outer with 1.2 ohms resistance. Not sure if those resistances are high or not but it would appear as though the left and right channels are not matched to the same rca connector. Obviously I can change them on the cart when i connect it up but I guess my main question is, is this the way it is supposed to be or would i be better to swap the green and blue so that the channels are paired on the on rca? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Matt.

Hi Gang, I thought I'd ask this rather than pollute someone else's thread. I now have a DL-103 with wood body and it's too heavy for the standard Thorens arm. I was already considering a tonearm upgrade and probably looking at Rega arms. Basically I would like to ask what people think are the best bang for buck upgrade on the 160. I'm preferring to just buy a 3 point plate to help this be easier. Looks like I'll stay down the MC path also so that should be taken into account. Also if anyone has experience with SQ improvement from the speed box etc. I would be interested. Cheers Jake

Item: Connoisseur BD1 turntable and Grace tonearm Price Range: negotiable Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Interested to play with a Sugden Connoisseur BD1 turntable and Grace tonearm. I’d like to either buy in beautiful condition or be in good enough shape to restore without too complex technical skills required beyond tinkerer. As per below. BTW I like the Grace 840 tonearm but others considered. If anyone has a nice Luxman at a reasonable price I’d consider that too. See pic as to how I’d like the TT to come up.
