This amp was the first of the Cambridge flagship amps and features an oversized torodial transformer, 120W / channel into 8 ohms, a digital display, 7 RCA inputs plus the option of a balanced input. There is a pre amp connection for a subwoofer or a power amplifier, a HT bypass option, and the Cambridge can be used to run multiple rooms through its A-BUS ready outputs. I purchased the unit as demo stock from the Australian distributor Synergy Audio in 2013. I used the amplifier in my system for about a year before upgrading. Apart from lending it to a friend for a few months, it has sat in my cupboard ever since. As far as service history goes, the amp was repaired under warranty a couple of years ago when the volume pot had an issue and the problem has never resurfaced. Recently I have tested it in my system and it sounds great in two – channel mode and in HT bypass. The unit comes with a remote control and an instruction manual (which is marked V2 but I don’t believe there is any functional difference between models, just electronic changes). The unit is in great shape with only a few minor cosmetic marks on the top of the amp. Having all silver components including my speakers' drivers and a different amplifier irked me; as silly as that sounds. I used it to drive a set of Magnepan MMGs and after they were sold a set of Monitor Audio S6. Drove both speakers beautifully without any hint of bright or harsh treble and a rich midrange and decent bass. The amp had the ability to drive the MMGs easily with plenty of power to spare and is currently sold and recommended by Bill McLean (distributor of Magnepan in Australia). Current retail is $1499. The amp has a great digital preamp and works with all the inputs in the digital domain (including the analogue input). The subwoofer out is the 1x version and is very good preout. I used this with another amp to bi-amp my Monitor Audios. The amp is a Class A input feeding a Class D output and hence takes a lot of characteristics from its input. It's with a heavy heart I write this classified - I really don't want to let these go but I simply don't use it enough to justify keeping it. From the 90's if I remember correctly. Typically over-engineered in Rotel fashion, this amp has a beguiling sound that is just so easy to listen to all day... hallmark of a great amplifier. Its deceiving aswell - its small in size but very powerful with real current drive. Was very well regarded in it's day. I've owned this since new, so its it very good condition. A few small nicks and scratches, and some of the lables are wearing off the facia slightly, but on the whole exceptional for its age. This amp is perfect if you have a retro setup, or want to put together a really nice retro analog setup - just add a Rega RP3 (it has a good Phono stage to plug in your MM or MC cartridge/turntable), the Denon cassette deck and Denon tuner from my other listings, and a pair of nice standmount B&W or Dynaudios from the 90's Please note that the Denon tuner is for sale on another page. Ethernet & USB input as well. It’s easy-as for streaming via Airplay which was really convenient. Joint winner of HiFi+ product of the year in 2016, and Sound-Image award in the same year. It sounds very clean / clear & precise without sounding dry or harsh. It has more than reasonable level of grunt, rated ~ 150w / channel into 8ohms, 250w into 4 ohms. To say the remote is robust is an understatement. Lifting the lid, and having a look inside shows a nice layout & some quality components.
