  1. You don't consider that the government policy of no FBT on Utes has a bearing on what businesses purchase? I completely agree. Took my X from Perth to Albany last week. With the harsh weather (cyclone) on the way down our range was limited to 300km at one point. However on the way back with no massive head winds it came back up to around 420km. The learning from this was that the vehicle is perfectly suitable for 99% of my usage being around Perth, but heading anything further than 350km requires planning. In your usage case I can't think of any currently available vehicle that would suit aside from a diesel 4WD with long range tanks.
  2. What do you think is the real reason?
  3. I think we'll have to agree to heartily disagree on this one. ? I'm curious - what would be the positive outcome for VW creating fake news around our lack of government direction or policies on reducing vehicle emissions?
  4. Did you read the article? Nothing to do with local distributors - it re-iterates that it's all to do with EU policies and selling into markets that make the most business sense. There is no point selling into Australia for most EU manufacturers when they can sell locally and obtain the credits available there. Until we get govt policies that actually direct the market, we will remain a dumping ground for the cheapest/least efficient/most polluting vehicles.

  6. Further information: Hopefully not making a mistake here in selling as this LP12 comes with a story. I purchased it around 5 years ago as you see it now. It was built by a gentleman to be his ultimate rig, however unfortunately he passed away before he ever got to spin a record on it. I hadn't planned on ever selling it, however it should be used and enjoyed rather than sitting on the shelf gathering dust. Recently serviced/checked by a respected local technician. Specs as below: Serial Number 070645 - putting it around a 1997 vintage Ittok LV II arm - this has some marks around the cartridge mounting points, however this does not affect function Hercules II 33/45 power supply Cetech subchassis & armboard - standard armboard and chassis comes with the unit I have all the original boxes, however this is available for local purchase only at this point. Note - no cartridge included in this sale. Photos:
  7. We have no EV policies, a voluntary emissions standard and a small RHD market. Why would car makers bother to send us anything but dregs and models that they can produce in factories on old equipment requiring no spend/R&D?
  8. Check out plugshare - either the website or app - and you can sort by charging plug. Tesla definitely will have more charging availability, however if you have a power point at home that is accessible, that's going to be the most practical/easiest way. If you have 3-phase, even better. If the Porsche can charge from 3-phase plugs (with adaptors) then most of the City of Perth carparks will have charging bays you can use. I've used these with my X - they work well and are free. ?
  9. I considered one of these before buying my Tesla, they were just being released, but there wasn't any stock to actually test. The pricing difference just made it too far to reach for me. I think the base model on-road is about the same price as a fully loaded S or X including the self driving upgrade? Completely different cars though and I'm sure you wouldn't go wrong with one of these. ?
  10. Unfortunately can't help out on the quads of 300B - only have a pair, but how many EL34s do you need? I have a quad of Psvane WE EL34 replicas, but one was DOA.
  11. Sunset was awesome yesterday afternoon so had to take a shot to share! ?
  12. Thanks for the kind words - my wife was very pleased! ? GLWTS
  13. This piece of engineering madness is now up and running.. hysterically awesome! ?

  15. ?This - and still this guy doesn't get the irony of him calling out others for conflicts of interest.. ?
  16. It's been a while since last update. There have been a few iterations of Line Magnetic gear coming through to test & run in. Some photos below.. LM-812 Iconic speakers running from LM-219iA integrated amplifier (845 tubes). LM-812 Iconic speakers running from AS-128 mono block amplifiers (212 tubes) fed by matching LM-129 Preamplifier. Such a BIG sound! Current arrangement - back to my Zu Audio Omen Def speakers running from the AS-125 integrated amplifier with Elrog 211 tubes installed. There is also a Wilson Benesch Torus sub in the corner. I'm now waiting on a Kuzma 12 inch arm to complete the TT setup - which should arrive this week!
  17. They are the Omen Def with Radian tweeter upgrade. ?
  18. Thats awesome - good to hear. My experiences with Audi, VW and Volvo have been very different!
  19. @blybo - wasn't commenting on if Tesla's were good or bad, but the irony that seems to be lost on most (and him) in his "conflict of interest" comments. Clearly he has plenty when reporting on vehicles whilst making cash off selling them - which is fine, but calling others out for it was laughable.. I don't drive an S - sold it to buy an X and a 3. Guess you could call me a convert ? and I'm quite happy to be one. However, I wasn't defending Tesla - more pointing out that this guy comes across as an angry hack. Quite off topic - Your comments about the Volvo dealer are ones that I can sympathise with (never buy an Audi in Perth!) and the main reason that I don't like that selling model anymore and actively try to stay away from it. The brands have become too greedy, leaving nothing for the dealers in a sale of a car to provide local support - hence the high servicing prices and fights over warranty claims which the dealer would have to pay for. In the long run these companies are damaging their brands, but in the short term margins for them are strong. At the end of all this, the customer suffers as they have limited local support from dealers who are desperate to make money.
  20. Interesting this bloke - self proclaimed auto-expert (must be as he owns the website domain!) spruking that positive reporting about Tesla is by those linked to EVs so not impartial. His revenue comes from getting you a great deal on a car - I noticed that he can't get deals on Teslas - forgive me, but the irony of point out a conflict of interest whilst your whole business model is built on one is hilarious... Either way - he was right about one thing, there is competition coming for Tesla. This was Elon's main goal I think, to drag others to the line on EVs, which he seems to be getting somewhere with. Seems to be lost on this fella..
