So…I’ve been wondering for a few weeks, now that I have high efficiency horns, my sota-ish class d amps are just overkill.  Given the new paradigm, what would something old-skool and class a-ish sound like with them ?

The thing is, I didn’t sit well with valves when I tried them previously and I didn’t want to take an expensive gamble in that direction, even though they would supposedly suit the 98dB Colibri.

How about solid state class a monoblocs of modest power output.  Would be perfect.  If such a thing existed for a modest price.  I’ve considered the Schiit Audio Aegir 2’s, and the Graham Slee Proprius but they don’t quite seem to stack up to the calibre potential of the Colibri.

If I’m gonna do this, it’s properly.  No half measures this time.  But something a bit different.  How about an Aussie-made and designed high-current class ab monobloc that’s good for 30 watts class a ?  With a ganfet-based sota outboard power supply that surpasses the capabilities of old trannys and smps for ultra low noise clean power delivery ?

Any guesses ? 😎
