Well yes, it does look like Mallee root gets hot... also seems easier to light than my Bunnings logs. This was the heat generated by my pyrolytic cleaning attempt #2. Still didn't clean the inside of the lid but happy I've killed off any remnant mould or flavour residue.

My wife got out some super market minute pork steaks for dinner tonight... trying to decide if I can be bothered getting the Kamado going when the Weber Q seems the obvious choice... just not as fun to use.

@blybo I get the mallee root at AP fuels in Braeside. Georgia there is my partner’s cousin. But they have a great range. There is also a mob in Clyde that do cherry tree wood and hickory etc.

Pork shoulder with fennel salt.  Duck fat potatoes and green beans and a quinoa salad, The Mrs made sticky date pudding  A nice glass of Red Hill Rose

  • Fresh Barramundi, Valencia Orange, my back yard coriander, extra virgin olive oil.   Cooked on the Weber with the fish never touching the hotplate - instead atop the oranges with the bbq lid

Oh @Tubularbells I used your rub mix recipe on some meat last week and it really got a lot of compliments. Also spritzed with apple juice and red wine vinegar mix.

Just a crappy $100 thing from Kogan to play with. I’m gonna make a better one from a few old tanks. Or maybe a couple of food grade 44 gallon drums. Thicker metal will help regulate heat better. Now to remember how to weld.

Some cheap and cheerful Aldi Pork ribs  on the mighty Pit Barrel Cooker tonight. Fall apart tender which is a bit further than I like to take them but still really nice even from my harshest critics (i.e. wife and kids ?)

Thanks but Braeside's a little bit out of the way for me. Getting it from my local butcher is very convenient, about 200m from 1 of my shops.

Today I am using a million year old Weber Silver to cook a Lamb forequarter then some nice sausages.

BBQ Baby back ribs for us today.

thinking our funky bbq is coming upto 15 years old and long done its dash and thinking for replaicng

tossing up between a gas 2 burner webber Q (family)...its well regarded and am sure some here using it.

or an overdue by heston 3 burner. a tad more expensive but think could swing it for about the same,

https://www.everdurebyheston.com.au/product/furnace

I like the full al construction so no rust also the 3 burner and 3 seperate cook surfaces....

wondering if anyone has had any experience with one of these ? I can accomodate the slightly large size of this.

Get the Weber Al. I have a family Q and I love it. I have a Heston Pedistal Fusion and have had more than enough issues unfortunately. Actually it’s being replaced for the second time. I’ll have a brand new one which they assure me will be the charm. I’ve never had an issue with the Weber in over 6 years.

Ps yes I have 5 BBQs ?

thanks wiht the feedback jakey, yeah for someone who replaces bbq about 15 years down track... dont really want to get the wrong one ! just hoping the weber Q isnt too small... we can get a bit of family over at times and fully load up our 3 burner now... thinking something bigger might more needed ?

the gas everdure looks a simple thing. what could go wrong ?

Family WeberQ is a great BBQ - but if you want a more ‘traditional’  BBQ look at the Weber Genesis range. Great build quality as always from Weber.

I use a Family Q and a baby Q. I’d happily have a Genesis and also a Weber smoker but the Qs are good pieces.

Not to tar a whole brand by my experience I suppose but build quality was less than the price would suggest. Take a look on product review.

If the Weber is too small you may find another brand with same build as an Everdure for half the price. My mum once paid $3000 for an Everdure that I found about the same build as my $400 one at the time.
