You are welcome. Yes! they are very serious about their audio.  I did not even bother going to the home theatre and accessory sections and some of the smaller unknown brands as I only arrived in Taipei in the afternoon and had about 3 hours to cover the show before it closed at 6pm.

Did anything sound great and stop you in your tracks?

 

My main aim that afternoon was to try and take as many photos with my new camera as I could within the 3 hours. So there I was running from room to room shooting photos as if I was given a day pass as an SNA photog :-)

 

A couple of systems made me stop focussing on photos and have a brief listen. I am reposting  the photos of some of these systems. Any guesses on what the stand out system was?????

Thanks! Yes! there were some interesting speakers for me and ONE standout :-)

 

The big Zingali's had me spending more than 3 mins in that room. A majority of people would live in bliss with them.

 

Lawrence Audio of Tapei - pity we do not have an Australian distributor. The sense of ease and tone was amazing. 

 

The little Naim soundbar. As good as or better than a Bose subwoofer.

 

G.I.P Lab horns. Now sorry that I did not spend more time in there. The room was a bit too small. Sense of immediacy was astonishing.

 

Surprise value on a brand that I would not think twice of that had me taking notice of the sound - Linn! Their slogan of "everything sounds better with Linn" is appropriate. 

 

Stenheim - Did not know this brand of speaker but quite liveable with. Had me thinking that there is nothing like a big box to give you a realistic re-presentation of sound.

 

 

Drum roll..............................

 

 

The system that had me thinking of what would I upgrade to if money was no object ............................................... 

 

Estelon driven by the Burmester amplifiers. They presented the music as if the band was playing behind the plane of the speakers with a sense of scale and majesty that I have not encountered in a system.

 

So friends there is something to be said for BIG rooms, BIG speakers and BIG grunty amps :-)

 

Hope you all enjoyed the photos as much as I did shooting them for you.

I too really liked the look of the Lals Speakers and the amps. The speakers reminded me of the Pioneer TAD Exclusives.

I must add the the woodwork looked even better close up than the photos could capture. And did I mention the smell of freshly varnished wood. They had a couple of cross cuts on display.

No unfortunately she was not there when I attended.

Your post got me thinking whether Alfred would entertain an audio enthusiast as a son in law . That person could then have the speakers and Miss Red Shoes

It seems like that. hehe! I had to delete a lot of out of focus shots as I shot these as a SLR camera noob and without a flash.

I had some fun running around the different rooms and floors.

Not familiar with the capabilities/restraints of either. When I got there they were silent as most of the room was being dismantled. I think the staff had had enough of 3 days at the show.

A great BIG Thank You to an audiophile friend ALF in the USA who I have never met but been in touch with for the last 4+ years who sent me a present of the Micro Seiki High Speed inertia Unit.

 

ALF knows that I have been lusting after one of these hard to find rare and expensive Micro Seiki HS-80 units for my Micro RX 5000 TT, so he sent me one as a present. What a great guy!
