do some people go too far with the healthy eating thing ?

while that is a bit extreme !

tend to agree, with people now and then come across with all sorts of self imposed restrictions they play on themselves. to point feel like giving them  carrot to chomp on or a piece of lettuce...though even that probably not good enough as wasn't dug out fresh from the earth or something.

Think the far bigger problem is people over eating and being over weight and blocking up the hospitals with there over indulgence. Crazy fad diets are way less of a problem.

If you want a healthy diet, eat plenty of vegetable, nuts, fruit, get most of your protein from sea food and poultry (easier to digest than red meats), keep sugar, alcohol, grains , yummy stuff to a minimum. Exercise (walking and swimming are good) occasionally run (to get the heart really pumping), occasionally lift heavy things, root (sex is good for ya)........and stop stressing cause thats the major killer.

Interesting, it touches a subject that I've been close to for a while.

My wife hat a phase where she would propose different diets, ban pasta, no alcohol, don't mix some types of food, etc. It went to the extreme that it was driving me absolutely bonkers, and if it wasn't for the kids and other factors that would have been a bad outcome. Instead of cheating on her with another woman... I felt like cheating on her by stopping at the bakery!

In the end, we both relaxed. Ok, I admit that eating pasta once or twice a week was not particularly healthy, so we sort of agreed on a healthier style of food during the week, and more indulgement shall we say on the weekends. And it works really well. As long as you find that balance that suits you, all is well. This weekend, there's cackes and barbies and pies lined up. We'll just take it easy next week.

Plus we try not to use our cars too much over the weekend or unless we really have to, we do most things walking or by bike. That is a good balance for me.

Or we take my dad's approach. Half of his life on diet (mornings and lunch) and the other half not on diet (evenings and weekends). Works for him!

I can't cook, and if I do no one eats, and even the dog we use to own gave me the WTF is this and walk of in discused....

So I'm greatful to have a better 1/2 that can cook, I never complain what's on the table when it's there infront to fill that empty whole that's nagging at you.. So the saying "happy wife, happy life.,." Very real in my household. Never bite the hand that feeds you.....

Luckily she's right into the real stuff nothing processed and always very balanced with plenty of greens and many colourful veggies. And on occasions we try something we have never tried before, you have to life's too short to restrict yourself.

Seems to be all the rage at the moment with mainly impressionable young women embracing the virtues (clear conscience?) a healthy Vegan diet provides.

A striking condition afflicts them where they become evangelistic in purging society of evil meat / dairy / fish / fat devourers while dedicating their (previously shallow?) lives to it's worthy cause by only discussing on social media how healthy they feel and condemning those around them for not falling into line.

My wife pointed out  girls brag of dumping guys who won't convert cause they don't love them enough and a female friends daughter taunted her mother with - "Do you realise you're chewing on a poor Chicken's leg!!??".

She had the good sense to remind her daughter to mind her own business and stop ramming her ideology down her throat!

Sign of an intolerant society as a whole with the media endlessly spitting out news of any minor transgressions often as leading stories - thus fomenting hysteria against life's injustices!

Rant over!  ;)

Whatever turns them on,

Just remember there's a generation, mainly where I came from who have been brought up by commercial enterprise with process foods such as "TAB" drinks, canned food with preservatives and packages heavily loaded with sugar etc. it's produced a generation of kids; today, who are intolerable to certain common foods such as eggs, nuts and meats, as far as I'm concerned this is a result of heavily commercialised processed foods that's available in the supermarket shelves. When I was growing up, I can't remember any kid in the school that was intolerant to certain foods. When I have family gatherings. now, I have to be mindful that I don't use nuts or eggs as some of my nieces are allergic to them and could die taking it....

Yeah, think you're right on the processed foods problem - @@Addicted to music we're all lucky in our household having an excellent diet overall.

Basically never have prepared meals / foods with everything made from scratch - have Pizza normally once a fortnight and every 2nd time it's fully home made with our own dough.

Have Fish and chips maybe once every 3 months and restaurants every 6 - 8 weeks so no over indulgence except for the odd extra wine!  :P

As a consequence my weight never fluctuates by more than 1kg.

Vegan?

But animals taste so good.
