Martykt Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Thanks Marc and Henry for a fantastic evening. It was great to meet in person some really great people for my first SNA GTG. As for the speakers, the Redefy Twos were stunning !! Extremely hard to fault with a big sound and fantastic tonality and linearity. Marcs room is as impressive as it looks in the photos and Marcs hard work really shows.
Martykt Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 And thanks again Egg for the cds will have lots of happy listening from them Marc I left a bottle of red there (one in the plastic bags) please enjoy with my compliments:)
evil c Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Great time last night - lot's of food and drink to celebrate Marc's new "home" and sound system was fantastic! The new redefy speakers were a revelation in their ability to reproduce every demand thrown at them, with incredible detail & floor shaking, seat rattling bass provided by the 15" woofer. The only hiccup came with the cannons on the 1812 Overture tripping the protection circuits on the amplifiers, although we heard enough of the percussive force to be highly impressed! My thanks to Marc and his family for opening their home (at last) and hope their will be more GTG's there in the future. Managed to snap a few blurry pics (set on low res on phone camera somehow) less flattering to the attendees after :)al left! Marc would have had a sore cutting hand with all the Salami's we gobbled up ( sorry @Luc) Duc and Arthur contemplating cheese or cakes! Duc replenishing one of the dozens of refills The Rev had last night Alexander from Audio Magic looking bemused at Eggy as he drifts off! "No pics - I'm a mod now!!" Now he's a mod @@joz has gone camera shy  Sweet spot left vacant for @@djb my @r$e - al ! New kid Martykt couldn't be prised out with his newfound rightful throne usurping us oldtimers! dthompson Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Hi guys.... Thanks to Marc and family for the great night. It takes a lot of work to host a gathering and it was fantastic....thanks so much. The room is a ripper Marc....and a credit to you. It was terrific to enjoy the sound and enjoy the new room and be "spread-out"....a bit different for you from your previous space?! It is really well set-up and works like a treat. It was a pleasure to see Henry once and again and enjoy his speakers. Thanks for making it down Henry it was a real pleasure catching up with you. I really enjoyed the speakers and the number of discussions we had. The speakers have some real strong presence and great dynamics....accompanied by that firm bass foundation. Excellent work Henry! Congratulations and best regards for the future with your products. You deserve to be well supported. Thanks to the guys who could make it...it was great to meet-up with some friends and meet some new people. All the best to you all. I can't finish off without a passing glance at Joz (sorry mate!)....but, he was getting mighty comfy in that superb listening chair Marc? It wouldn't have surprised me if he was still there when you guys got up this morning!? Regards: Dave t
~Spyne~ Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 A big thanks to Marc for hosting this little GTG. The room looks great - the hard work has definitely paid off with something that works equally well as an audiophile's den as it does a family entertainment room. A few little tweaks here and there and that 70Hz issue will surely be gone. Was good to see some familiar faces and meet a few new ones too. Thanks Eggy for the CDs, much appreciated especially the Jens Lekman. Also thanks to Henry for allowing his speakers to be on display; they go incredibly loud and manage to main detail, dynamic headroom and tonality all the way up to 11! Especially those 15" woofers - I didn't think that level of composure was possible from a large, passive speaker at those kinds of volumes - we might have even seen several examples of "molecular scrambling" as small pieces of styrofoam started falling from the ceiling treatments as James Blake, Nils Lofgren and the 1812 Overture gave the Redefys a series of torture tests. And the best thing was, step outside and close the door and you'd never be aware of the destruction taking place inside - a real testament to Marc's hard work in converting the garage into a listening room! Thanks again mate, I'm sure there'll be a few more nights in the future spent listening to all kinds of fabulous gear while sipping on smoky scotch 1

henry218 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 We would like to thank Marc for opening his home, hospitality and a chance to meet the infamous Melbourne GTG group [emoji12], a great bunch of guys, passionate about music and hifi. What a great night it was, loads of food! Loads of drinks! And loads of music!! One of the first thing i was impressed was how well finished the room was, it is much better in person than the photos i have seen. It is quite an amazing acoustic properties in that room and soon will take another step up to improve it's bass response. I learnt many new music, get to hear all time favourites from pink floyd, roger waters, dire straits and the venerable choo choo train with few touches of Yello [emoji5]ï¸ Cheers Henry Redefy Audio

Red MacKay Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 evil c- passenger? Yes, a good passenger, but man can he talk! Even with the GPS on loud, evil managed to distract me enough to miss three major turnoffs just to get to Marc's. What a great room Marc!!! A fully functional well thoughtout quality cave. No critizism here, just praise. A beautiful job! A good evening? You betcha. I hadn't a clue what to expect on the evening re speakers, then I experienced the TWOs. Mighty impressive with the SGR monos. Of course I am sure they would have been even better with vinyl, but my two girly passengers were requesting their beds so it was time to go. A big thanks to Mrs Marc and Family for sharing their home and Henry and Ben for sharing their work with us.
evil c Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Ha ha - always a comedian! Only guilty of one distraction. @Duc after being picked up was the other culprit!
joz Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Yep a most excellent night! As expected the room was a delight, the gear sounded fantastic, the food was yumm, and Evil never drove. @@Red MacKay , you see its all true. That guy can talk  Again, events like this really show what SNA has and does well. These GTGs are something special. Thanks Marc for opening up your lovely home and letting us enjoy the new fantastic room. Your efforts have really paid off. And wow, didn't the time get away from us at the end of the night. I thought it was about 10pm but it was actually 2.30am+ by the time I realised the how late it was. Just goes to show time flies when your having fun. It was great to see the new big Elektra ReferenceHD handle to big passages with such aplomb and never breaking a sweat. As the evening went later the music got louder it happens when someone leaves the volume remote in my hands. But guys I think that combo had a lot left in it, with 94db speakers and 300 watts/per side and all the current available. I think we were just warming up Thanks again @@Marc and all the guys that made the night what it was. 1
henry218 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Im just curious, if anyone had listening fatigue in the room or after you guys get home? We were listening REALLY loud for a long period of time!
joz Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Not sure about the others but no problem from me. As much as I like to play systems loud I don't do it very often, but every once and while I really enjoy it. 1
