V, those we22a horns are pretty special.  The WE setup running the dual we22 horn setup was standout at recent Munich show.

The Altec 515b tone with its dynamic linearity is very special ,  now that the enclosure backs can sit flush again.

Although sounded sweet In semi open baffle format , closed and vented tidies it up.

More fun at Studio 23 , the addition of that blue rug helps beyond , thanks Mick just

Need more

Just listening to different amp / solid state and other tweeters out of the white horns , music seems more alive.

15 years later I have gone full circle back to 4-5 way and now with an ‘injection channel’ (according to romythecat) for bit of msg seasoning to taste.

It goes right into your veins

Got some Tannoy 92db System 800 monitors in a cupboard if you want to try vs the Corals  !  for body injection Chanel duties.
You’d be tuning all hardcore on DSP and delays I presume ?

Running the Altec 515 full range for instrumental tunes for that same effect in a way.

It’s Epic on the right program material.

@tuyen where did you source the timber felt wall panels? Looking at options for the living room

Super intrigued with the ‘injector channels’ but don’t really understand romy’s writing on the topic.  What has been the impact of adding these to your system?  I imaging that the different dispersion gives a touch more envelopment and ambience but it’d be good to know

hey mate!     sorry been away for a while.    currently no dsp (ie. eq or delay) in the setup.

infact have temporarily disconnected the 'injection channel' as in process of re-configuring the bass horns with the 8" B&C 8PE21 drivers  instead of 15" JBL E130s now that I have the throat extensions for the Azura Bass Horns.   Has changed the presentation noticeably.    All fun!

hey mate. sorry for delay in reply.   just from a local supplier.  about $90-100 a sheet.     The one I got is nothing fancy.  I've seen ones where they use real hardwood strips instead of ultra then wood veneered mdf like mine.    But $$$...

from a room treatment / sonic improvement perspective, these sheets are awesome.  cuts out so much echo.

Yep you on the money there mate.  Only meant to be at low volume (ie. -10db or lower of main speaker volume) and being in sealed enclosure, rolls off evenly from 100hz or so.   It just adds a bit of ambience and openness/envelopment to the sound.     If you know Romy, he listens to pretty much to only classical - which in my opinion would be the genre that would greatly see benefits from these 'sound effects'.

OMA , Jonnie’s new Concert Audio iteration vid, ala Danley multi entry in design. I’d suspect the complimenting Bass be too shy ☺️ to keep up for intended large venue usage.

It’s time to Time align all the Line Magnetic Horns , I shall reveal if makes them marginal better or Audiolicious 🥰

Is it just the tweeter which can move?

The Mid horns can slide for or back by 150mm on its craddle, however need roughly 1.6 meters more. The 2360 for Highs has its voicecoil fairly aligned with the Mid horn driver sitting way behind in the distance.

But both are miles behind the bass driver. Although LM-3 speakers Passive XO sounds reasonbly well , further potential resides in spades...

Hi horn exit being well behind Mid also introduces obstacles even with drivers aligned.

Sadly must go all active on DSP multi amp , into it currently. and so far:

For audiolicious imaging to cement itself , finding that the Hi horn is prodomenently the fusspot , its either the maker or breaker , leaving a mere 0.026 milli second margin of difference between the Mid horn to gel on todays observations.

The Mid horn alignment gives the Resolution, tone and bass shaper .

Not using the LM-3 tweeter, although a beauty , too costly to blow .

Got an enormously wider soundfield in the Highs than it provides.

A little trial using the 15” Altec full range - no X Over…...

Something I had to try after hearing the fine Devore 96  Urangutangs open beauty free from XO nasties enabled by its beaut driver choice 👌

So without a XO in the bass drivers at all , all seems to sound very complimentary  on certain genres and a testament on what an outstandingly voiced vintage driver the Altec 515b really is.

Thanks  again to Tuyen , Mick and Conrad with their ex precious audio goodies , really helping me to create a totally exquisite sounding miracle of a rig , best of all at a modest cost.

Hi Volker.

Are you using any eq on the horn?

Looking great.

Yeah no EQ used nor required.
The BMS 4594 Coaxial driver on the JBL 2384 Horn is a match made in heaven although the Ribbon Tweeter really helped completes everything for that wide projection and tone I was chasing.
