main-KX-5926.jpg

The kx-5926 is one of a family of new generation 3 way systems which are designed for the Cinema complex of the 21st Century, offering a significant improvement in audio quality compared to the best 2 way designs. To put this in broad technical terms, it is a requirement for these systems to perform best with stadium seating, whilst maintaining a shallow profile on the complete assembly so that wasted space behind the screen is minimised.

To achieve a lower distortion figure and flatter frequency response in the mid and high frequencies, the correct loading and pattern control had to be engineered. Using new sophisticated loudspeaker modeling techniques, along with experience gained from a long and succesful association with the cinema industry, Krix has gained the reputation as an innovator. The Krix new generation 3 way designs are the correct solution for this type of advanced speaker system.

This complete system can also be specified with a bi-amped passive filter network between the midrange and high frequency and should a passive filter be required the model number to be specified is a kx-5926B. The passive filter network will be factory fitted within the midrange enclosure.

Features

  • 3 way array for maximum output, optimal coverage and minimum distortion
  • 2 way bi-amped operation (passive filter between Mid & HF). Compatible with industry standard 500Hz 4th order Linkwitz Riley active filters
  • True horn loaded midrange and high frequency
  • Well defined constant coverage with a smooth transition from LF to Mid & HF
  • Shallow profile to minimise space lost behind the screen
  • Pre-equalised to the ISO2969 house curve minimising set-up time
  • Flat front profile for easy baffle wall installation

Specifications

Frequency Range: 40Hz to 16kHz (pre-equalised to ISO2969 house curve ±2dB) free space

Hi Andy,

Very serious gear they have there. I am sure they are as good as those coming from Europe or Japan, if not better. I will have to check with my boss and see if I am allowed to visit SA for some real pizza.

Let me browse through their website, you never know, we could be having them in NSW as well. :D

Hi 2sheds,

I only heard the Westminster, GRF, Canterbury and a couple of smaller ones. Saw the Churchill static display at shows but not heard them.

Why? Thinking of getting a pair? :D

Unless you get caught looking when you shouldn't be Sheds? Then depending on who catches you there could be quite a lot of harm!!!!

I was looking at these the other day http://www.musique-concrete.com/MC/ENGalery.html This is the "Grande Castine" designed by Marco Henry. They are 3 ways using Le Cléac'h horn

The 3 horns are fed through 1st order passive crossovers... the system possess a 112dB/1W/2,83V efficiency and it can be used with a small power amplifier (triode SE preferred).

Do you know the designer Ant ,I was having a read about them on their website ,someone posted a link on diyaudio .

Very nice looking speaker :D.

Hi 56, a typo on my part! I was too busy looking at Andythings post!!! :o

Marco Henry is a friend of Le Cléac'h which is what I should have said. Martin at Azurahorn is having an extended break from building Le Cléac'h horns which is a bummer.

BTW I should mention the Unity Horn as another great horn/waveguide and a way to reach 300Hz without any problems. Just add bass :D

Very nice. An audiophile in Hong Kong has a pair for sale last year. Not sure if he has sold them. Remember his asking price was $30K...

Has anyone have any experience with the altec horns ? Do they require a big room to work properly? Never had the opportunity to listen to any horn speakers like the Altec Model 19 etc.

Thanks

Tuyen

Here you go Tuyen, Altec horns in OB with some other DELICIOUS SET amps and DROOL worthy TT's, I think I even spy a Supratek amp in the mix as well, sounds pretter good even for Utube:cool:

Hi Jack

When are we going to see those 18's in a baffle .

Hi JCR33,

Did you end up listening to a few GOTO setups? If so, how did they compare to your Avantgarde Trios?

Cheers

Tuyen

Adding to that, has anyone heard any horn setups running off low powered class-T amps?

I have. The result was surprisingly good, but I could not help but wonder whether it could be better with valve amps.

If its the person I'm thinking he should of kept his 45 SET.

Cheers

Awesome! Cheers for that. I am a bit hesistant running 4x valve amps to power the setup (especially since I don't have 4 of the same amps.. I have 4 different types of valve amps.. would it matter?).

I kind of decided it was either build a passive XO and run 1 valve power amp or run 4x class-T/D amps. Jayden said he will assist me with schematics for the GOTO 4 way passive XO. Maybe give it a go later down the track.

Any specific details of the systems? What horns, drivers, amps ?

My setup will include GOTO SG-16TT (high), GOTO SG-370 (mid-high) with Azurahorn 550hz horn, GOTO SG-555P (mid-low) with Azurahorn 340hz horn & Altec 416-8a 15" bass driver in 360L onken bass cabinets. Powered by 4x Helder Audio MKIII TA2020 class-T amp modules running off car battery/s and a DBX Driverack 480 4-way electronic crossover.

Any thoughts of this combination?

Cheers

Ya bit of a dilemma whether to plit amp budget 4 ways. I'm going with two or three Miniwatts which is about all I can afford. For a bit more money I'd happily build some Bottlehead S.E.X's again, with the Magnaquest iron they were very good for the money I thought. Welcome to borrow the Miniwatts, I'm at least 4 weeks away from having my ducks in a row.

Cheers Bev. Yeah, I did think about those miniwatts. I'll hit you up when I have it all going and see if you can bring them down to compare them to the class-Ts (after I have tweaked them of course!)

Happy to bring over the 8ch class-T amp to yours when its built to see how it compares on your setup too if keen
