I'd really like to do something similar with my surround speakers, but alas I can't fit through the manhole cover.

hi illusion...thats where tradies usually have an "apprentice" they can usually send off to do jobs like that :)

Now that the school holidays are on, I will send my 14 year old nephew up the ladder into the attic, besides I can't deal with the enclosed spaces and darkness and creepy crawlies up there.

well carpet was done yesterday, come up a treat, amazing the difference new carpet and a coat of fresh paint makes. feels like a new house ! love the darker colour carpet as well.

thanks grassy, yes very satisfied feeling, been doing bit of the putting back today, have got everything positioned, and commenced hookup. taking my time with that, only run and hooked up power, network and trigger cables as yet, tomorrow for signal cables, XLRs/RCAs and hdmi. and then to move on to the 2ch system hookup. Been taking my time with the cabling will show some photos and people might understand why :)

Wow, what a difference.  I bet it smells nice too!

finally finished hookup and setup of the home theatre side of things and room is functional again from home theatre point of view :)

over the weekend hopefully will get the 2ch side of things done,

ps I did mention about cables and taking my time in getting them run and hooked up. this is the reason. when pulled things apart was left with a birds nest on the home theatre side....

imageproxy.php-54.jpeg

there is power cables, hdmi cables, network cables, trigger cables, speaker cables, RCAs and XLRs all running free tending to get on top of each other becoming a bit of a tangle...even had my wife saying how come we have to have so many cables. and even some crazy talk in asking why can't we have wireless speakers and systems an such :o

anyways so took a bit of care, employing a bit of cable management with the power, network and trigger cables to get things a bit more neater. have left the source/signal & speaker cables just going point to point, but just a little care has made things a bit more manageable I think :)

she does, place got a full 100% inspection before approval, now doesn't want to leave. in the pic she is testing the surrounds for me…right surround …check purr …then left surround …check purr… :D

What happens when you test the woofers

thankyou grassy, yes very pleased with the colour match on the carpet, its an interesting colour too, in natural light its a charcoal

which before we got it we were worried might be a bit dark for our room, but like how it can transforms and can look quite light coloured as well depending on the light,

daughter watching one of her DVDs this morning, haven't fired up the projector as yet, but can't wait, definitely looking forward to kicking back and enjoying. wish you and family all the best for xmas and the new year as well :)

All looking very clean and neat now Al. Nice to sort out the spaghetti fest that can develop behind equipment. What brand is the carpet? Looks similar to mine if a shade or two lighter.

thankyou zammo, its so nice to have things clean and tidy after the dust and mess of moving things around and renovations. even our floor boards that go through the rest the house we gave a nice clean/polish and amazing the difference that makes after weeks of dust ! :D

yes the spaghetti fest that developed am glad to get on top off. lot neater and easy to get around now. the hdmi cables is only other that I think needs some cable management. but something will have to come back too.

the carpet we went for was from carpet call. while we visited their local store to sift through their various range we decided for their inhome service for final selection. which was very helpful I think. we went for their Eagle Ridge carpet in the colour Braidwood. Its a middle of range carpet from them and made by Quest carpets locally to us. The other options from them was a US made carpet and another made in saudi arabia. We thought we'd go with the local product to support the local industry. with a couple of young kids other main considerations for us were also something hard wearing, easy clean/stain resistant and a decent 15 year warranty all of which this carpet met, so hopefully something takes us through next ten years atleast !

Looks great. We went locally made as well. Victoria Carpets, platinum plush which is in their extra heavy duty range (1695gm/m2 - 80% wool/20% synthetic). Hard wearing and longevity was a must. I don't want to be removing equipment and changing our carpet for a long time.

to true, the effort goes in changing out not to be underestimated. definitely worth going something decent as you are and should get many many years out before having to change out :)

Room looks great Al.

That center speaker certainly looks imposing.

thankyou illusion, I consider a centre speaker THE most important speaker for home theatre so got best there could afford...took some finding...this is the third centre speaker have owned in my system over the years so been a case of evolution, with each upgrade bringing significant gains.

The last centre speaker I owned for a little while was the paradigm studio reference centre. and awesome thing. amazingly well made, superb build quality and boy the dynamics took a big jump up form the centre upgraded from...simple things like the first time I heard the "crack" of a twig in "the village" as they are leaning over a ditch..makes you literally jump ! detail and clarity was an eye opener.

its just when I upgraded my mains to the Divas the paradigm was a bit out classed just couldn't match them for warmth and rendition of vocals..whcih I found the new focal electra be centre brought along with the detail, clarity, dynamics of the paradigm centre I had before. So pleased how works in with the front stage and for the benefit it brings to home theatre side of things :)

its great to kick back and listen to some tunes again, the last few weeks have been pretty hectic with the renovations so really good feeling for all that to be done and can sit back and enjoy....

You unplugged all those cables and created harmony from chaos?

Sure you didn't plug that rear left into the right??

Sensational set up and ready in time to be enjoyed during the festive season....WOW

hehe has been a real winner ! wife took a peek behind there at the cables and was very pleased...chaos is the word for before was getting a bit of a jungle behind there and hard to manage...atleast now can see whats hooked unto what and what goes where ! :D

hehe re surrounds, ran test tones earlier to check levels etc. yep all connected up right :)

Sensational set up and ready in time to be enjoyed during the festive season....WOW

thankyou samman, yes great to have room and system fully functional again and just in time.

I fired up the projector today as well. made sure all was working and aligned with the screen as well. like very much how the new darker carpet works with projection. Screen seems to have gained more punch to the picture as the new carpet doesn't reflect light back as the lighter carpet did.

Cant wait to fire up the projector for the boxing day test :)
