New Beatles music

Recommended Posts

The single song “ now and then “ will be released soon

being the last song John wrote,

the blue and red albums also get a face lift ,

I see ,some see this as a cash grab,

but with technology now days ,

and the new process from Peter Jackson’s sound crew

results can be amazing

I remember listening to sgt pepper on the radio ,as it was

released to australia,

the dj saying this record may make or break them ,as their accent may be too broad for Aussie ears

to accept !

living through the various album releases ,

the excitement of the white album,

the almost romantic affair with abbey road,

the somber feeling of let it be ,

as it was seen as the end of the Beatles recording career ,
my prospective may be different to others ,

but this weekend I met a young guy who ,lives in a large regional city ,

we spoke about vinyl records ,

and his virgining  love for the format!,

that night I played revolver ,

the latest remaster

I had to sit in silence for a while to digest the music I just played,

the missing link between the boy band and the revolutionary sgt pepper

in 50 years  will the Beatles be remembered ?

I hope so

mccartney may be seen as a once in a lifetime musical genius

Can agree with all of the above and like the way it’s expressed except the bit about cash grab

They don’t need the money

They do it because they love doing it and because they can by adding contemporary technology

Is it no longer possible that musicians make music just for the love of it

Personally I have not the slightest interest in hearing it

The Beatles were as close to perfect as it is possible before the music becomes sterile and Abbey Road remains the perfect finale

Let them be

More so the bean counters ,

I did read somewhere ,

EMI UK

almost went broke

if it wasn’t for the Beatles income

the place would have been sold to Sony ;)

or closed down .

I see the next generation of martin’s

as carrying on their fathers ,work ,

in a respectful,and passionate way

its not about the money for them

never have been ,

hopefully a 3 rd generation of martins will still be exploring the body of work,

The yesterday movie seems to put it all in prospective

even in a world where the Beatles never existed,,

their music still takes the world by storm

It was presumably released today.  I went to JB and they didn't know anything about it, and said they haven't sold singles for 5yrs.  One guy said that they had a discussion about the release earlier in the day, and the red+blue will come out in about a week.  He knew nothing about a single, and felt that most of the releases will be in the UK.

Here is the track, via YouTube.

First impression:  for such a significant release, the cover design is extremely ordinary.

Second impression: the song.  It sounds like it is, a tarted-up Lennon demo.  Not one of his best songs, tends to plod along.  Certainly doesn't hold up against the best Beatles singles.  I think the "b-side", "Love me Do" will be the better track on the disk.  Not the bookend to their legacy The Beatles deserve.

cant help thinking that ,

if this was done back when it was written ,the playing would have been different

macca's bass is not of the style of the day ,although he did it

drums are not the same ,no dud snare sound

but as they say, with the passing of time

a long time in fact ,

(ringo and paul may have released some 30 or 40 albums since)

we have what the remaining beatles ,

have lovingly put together

Been thinking more about this over the afternoon.  In many ways they would have been better to release the difficult-to-listen-to improvised sound collage "Carnival of Light" from 1967  that McCartney's been teasing a release of for years.  It would have satisfied Beatles fanatics and would have at least been The Beatles playing together at the time of recording.

I'm impressed by the technology behind it, but to be brutally honest I find the tune boring as batshit.

I'd like to see them really mess with it, speed it up (and drop the pitch), add a whomping beat behind it and some boogie woogie. Why not, I doubt Lennon would have envisioned the form just released.

I hear it for what it is - a homage by the two survivors to their lost friends. I don't think it stands alone as a great song, but it's not terrible.  Since I've always had to skip the odd track on Beatles Albums I'm not surprised.  I think it's unreasonable to expect that they were going find another A Day In The Life lying around by now.

What Peter Jackson's tech is capable of is impressive.

I really like the new Love Me Do.
