Darren69 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 OK, PM me man because I am looking at Lenehan Ribbontek cables and XLR interconnects (x 2 pair). I think 500mm will do me for the interconnects, 2.5m for the speaker cables.
analog brother Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 get at least 1 metre length. you will curse when you expand your enterprises later and have gear on 2 racks. also selling will be easier.
Phantom Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Good point AB, could not agree more. I made the same mistake once and would never buy 0.5 metre again. It's the best extra money one would ever spend and it's not like we are talking 100's of $
Darren69 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 Ok. Can hear experience talking. Ta lads.

Basically it is the same price for your desired length. Then, for those who want a both the Interconnect & Speaker, there is an even better offer. This is only for the first 25 purchases, After which we will revert to RRP. PM me with any questions guys. cheers
Luc Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Just dropping in on this discussion about lengths not(I repeat...not) the discussion about the merits of various cables. You guys probably know I've finished my listening room which has been designed by me and several,( well more than several actually) members here and my plan was always going to be that I had my cables as hidden as I could get them and to have absolute top WAF. The idea being that I could have more than one or two or even three or four amps plugged in at any one time and to have speaker cables trailing out of them as well as IC's. Yes I realise not everyone can do this but...I found in these early days(only finished last Friday) that my 2.5m speaker cables aren't really long enough I should of got 3m ones and that my 500mm,750mm IC's are only just long enough for the way I want things to go. I'll be always buying just that little bit more extra length(if I can and within reason, if I have to swap gear about then swapped it will be) as I'm of course laterally displaying my gear but even guys with racks need to think about being able to plug in the top unit to the bottom unit at a pinch instead of having to disconnect the bottom unit and move it up to the third shelf for instance, yada yada yada. Just a thought.

Darren69 Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Brains trust, does anyone know of cables that are awesome with bass? Just plain english replies please, denialists need not touch the keyboard, neither should graph-attachers.
A J Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Brains trust, does anyone know of cables that are awesome with bass? Just plain english replies please, denialists need not touch the keyboard, neither should graph-attachers. Ribbontek are awesome with bass - I mean they will get every ounce of available bass to your speakers - none will sneak out along the way. They will treat the cones like a dominatrix treats her sissy boy - with a big stick. 2
Darren69 Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Oh yeah. Thats why I am getting some eventually. Any others?

The best cables for bass are those which possess low resistance and are generally quite stiff. 1
teagle Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Oh yeah. Thats why I am getting some eventually. Any others? I stopped using QED Genesis because the bass was overwhelming/masking the midrange when used with my Jamo Concert 11's, & now use Ribbonteks. How applicable this is in your system who knows? 2

How applicable this is in your system who knows? That could be controlled vs uncontrolled bass? I mean I have had cables which accentuated the bass but in a negative way, others had weedy bass, while the ribbonteks seem to have vice grip on the lower registers but the whole range is presented in an even manner. 1

Warren M. Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I don't believe Anticables will be a synergistic fit with the Focals though. In my experiences they really liven up the top end which is what Daz is trying to avoid, and with the beryllium action they're going to really accentuate this characteristic. Mate I can loan you a few types of cable to try if you like to take the guesswork out! The biggest problem with AntiCables that I found is is that, in spite of their very small amount of dialectric, they require a very VERY long burn-in. When I used them straight out of the packaging, they were brash and very unpleasant with a raised top end. Two hundred hours of burn-in later (shorted across 10W10RJ resistors and continuous play of a Densen Beat DeMagic CD), they are now simply gorgeous (they might not have required that much, but I needed to burn in my ICs too and they probably did need the full burn-in time). I'm currently using my cat6-based cables as I lent my AntiCables to Joe Rasmussen to trial and, frankly, I'm starting to pine for them. Cheers Warren.
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Any recommendations of make and model? Goertz MI-1, of course, but there are many others. It's the HF region where most speaker cables do the most damage. Again, Goertz MI-1 scores well in this area too.

MrRogers Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 That is why the Aurealis speaker cables are mostly bespoke.
