I am about to get my back walls rendered and want to ask, how is the carpet in the corner to the walls without any skirting?

Is this something I can ask for?

System looks great by the way. :)

Nice system and interesting to see how it has evolved over the years.

Getting the combination right is the trick and it looks like all of the combos you have would please any serious listener!

I'm not sure, the carpet was already laid when I moved in?

I was under the impression a lot of modern houses don't have skirting boards these days.

Thank you for the compliments, certainly I had done a couple of side wise steps but I don't think any backwards steps and its all part of the fun.

The other bonus is I have been lucky to be in the right place at the right time and scored some very nice pieces at a good prices.

At the moment I'm very happy with the speakers and turntable so will be hanging to them for a while. The CD player likewise I'm happy with both for sound and its ability with SACD,CD and hdcd. A oppo105 might perhaps be a logical upgrade. A dedicated transport and DAC would cool perhaps but them I would lose the SACD ability.

The amp has so far been great and driven 5 different speakers well including low efficient and demanding speakers. A pre/power combo would perhaps be nice but no rush.

Phono stage, seems the p75mk3 punches well above it weight and price and matches well of course with the 17d3 and to get better might involve a bit of cash.

Might just sit back, relax and listen to some music

Hey Rob,

Most plasterers are to lazy to get a good finish at the bottom. It's a bit harder to do. The carpet and underlay is normally only 10-15mm so it doesn't cover the join up much, skirting hides it all. Looks good, but I think skirting is the go. Talk to your plasterers. Sorry I didn't pop round, life's been hectic.

I will have to take you up on the offer of a listen now you've got some new toys. They look great. Did you sell all my mags for 10 bucks a pop to fund it allðŸ˜. Just kidding, hope you enjoyed flicking through them all.

Cheers Dave.

180 degree photo of the music room courtesy of my panasonic fz100 camera, perhaps not the best quality but it gives some idea. :-)

Well after the diaster of the plinius experiment and resulting damage to my dynaudio's , things have finally returned to normal at chez dave with a fair few new additions.

Sgr racks, plinius m14 phono , yamaha cds2100 , ortofon a90 cartridge and bel canto ref1000m amps.

All interconnects are Aurealis R1 balanced except for phono cable which is oyaide.

Power cables are all Isotek feeling into and from the aquarius.

Very happy with the sound with the bc amps driving the C5 beautifully, putting the c5's back in position, im experimenting with them further apart and less toe in - used a laser pointer on the out side edge of the speaker and a postik note to keep them aimed directly at the listening position.

Thanks to @@MarkT with his help in setting thingss up.

Next thing on the agenda .....tidy up the wiring :-)

Well a change with the system - replaced the Bel Canto Ref1000m with a Bryston 4BSST2 bought from SNA

After the disaster and cost of the plinius amp, i was hesitant to buy another big amp s/h but the Bryston from Andrew seemed to be a good buy and the brand itself seems to be held in high regard both sound and reliability wise.image.jpeg

Quick plug in to make sure all was working okay

Then the real fun , I pulled the whole system out , gave everything a wipe down and finally to around to tidying up spagetti junction.

lol to think all i really wanted in the begining was a good integrated amp, cd player and t/t. I blame SNA

Hi Dave

How does the Bryston compare to the Bel Canto?

Cheers

Congrats on the purchase of a new amp Cafe but I think you put your foot in it.

No, not with the purchase. Literally, you put your foot in the picture.

Early days yet Pete, only got yesterday and today was clean day.

Here thoughts are a poite smooth sound but i am so far playing polite smooth stuff throught it.

The bel canto tho do sound good, they replaced my old LSA valve/ss integrated and i wasnt hit by a clinical/sterile sound and they did drive the confidence 5 well

I'll bring over my rage against the machine sacd on Friday to test it out at 110db !

Lookin good 67:thumb:

You might end up back there. I started with an integrated, went to several separate set ups and back again. Sources notwithstanding....

setup 1

Plinius 9200

setup 2

Plinius SA-201 & Plinius Tautoro

setup 3

Audio Research REF100 & W4S STP-SE

setup 4

Vitus RI-100

- so don't write the humble integrated off just yet! ;)
