The only items I still have from this photo are the Yamaha NS-1000’s and the Finite Elemente racks.

Talk about money pit, get out while you can.

Jeez that's a blast from the past. I remember listening to that system - possibly even "number of the beast"!

It still blows me away how good that system sounded in that so imperfect room.

It was almost near-field listening, I think that helped (also the large amounts of alcohol…)

And just like that the racks have been replaced. If they could have handled the new turntable weight they definitely would have stayed.

I rated them massively.

They did a brilliant job holding my 50+kg rim drive VPI-HRX with the super platter.

One thing I've learnt,, Yamaha Man doesn't stuff about when it comes to Hi-Fi gear.

I’ll never stop regretting not buying your VPI. Just wasn’t an opportune time!

Good luck with the new deck mate

Esoteric?

Weight Main Chassis: 54kg (119 pounds)

PowerBase: 22kg (49 pounds)

Total weight: 76 kg (168 pounds)

Unless my father built two, then it very much must be 🤣

For those that never followed my thread, this is a stupidly overengineered (no such thing) custom designed steel rack (by me) utilising a small fortune worth of Isoacoustics isolators, and composite granite shelves. My dad fabricated it and had it powder coated. It was ultimately designed around a specific turntable 😁
