Cheaper than the $18K rebadged Denon by Sim Audio AVR! :P

Fair enough.

Then again everything by Sim Audio is a rip, even if some of it sounds OK, while Yamaha have always offered superb quality at reasonable prices.

The sound is typical Yamaha, on their top of the game, warm, open and detailed.

$9000 does seem a little excessive..i think they need a bit more gold bling:). something like this probably sounds just as good when Yamaha were on top of their game producing some nice amplification. http://bit.ly/Ihxyo1

they do look nice though, have to admit. Will have to go have a listen and see.

$9000 is expensive but it's all relative. There's another thread about a Lyra cartridge that costs around the same money but no one bats an eyelid regarding something that costs many thousands and is about an inch square of hardware... yet, mention a Yamaha amp and everbody sh*ts bricks because...it's a Yamaha amp..

Funny old world innit?

yeah I dont know what happened, as yamaha was an exception to this for a while. infact they even went to the press about it a while back if I remember. but I guess for what will be a low volume import its too be expected !

Had the chance to see and hear the amp last week at Yodobashi shop in Tokyo. Nice quality and superb sound. The amp drove with ease a plethora of speakers, I think the rated 100watt is very conservative.

The sound is typical Yamaha, on their top of the game, warm, open and detailed. Highs were smooth and non fatiguing.

In Japan is priced just over 5k, didn't listen to the phono stage, but think that it is not overpriced for what you get.

In Oz on the other hand, yes a bit overpriced.

holy!!!! that would look so beautiful on top of my CR-2020.

Good luck with the 25kg+ extra luggage!

This is the A-S2100 integrated. I don't think I've seen this offered here. Looks to be a EU/US offering currently? Cheaper than the A-S3000 maybe around USD$4000? Seems to sit betweeen the older A-S2000 and the A-S3000. Mosfets used in this one. Looks great ---

They are listed on the Yamaha Australia website but I have not seen any listed on dealer websites

New A-S1100. Successor to the A-S1000 I guess.

That's pretty dreamy actually. I could definately find a use for that (after selling current gear to satisfy the fiancee) I think I could make a case for it, If I start now by the time is starts getting discounted in the market I might be in the right position

Yes, I am very happy that Yamaha are continuing their line of premium stereo amplifiers. I wonder if they are considering a re-introduction into separates!!

Currently listening to my vintage Akai seperates and enjoying them immensly. If Yamaha was to bring out a new range, I think I would be on that bandwagon much sooner than planned.

It could be what they are planning, a response to those new Technics seperates that were, or are out this year. Definately seems like a Japanese hifi renaissance is starting.

New Yamaha NS-1000's would also be more than welcome.

Well they had the 2100 amp and the 2100 cd playing through a pair of the Soavo speakers, not the best room but sounded okay, they had a as3000 and they did have the cds3000 but A customers kid broke the tray to the cd3000 (wtf) and they had to send it back to Yamaha to get fixed

I've seen and heard the cds3000 and as3000 driving a pair of focal utopia floor standees (one of the smaller models) and they sounded mighty.

Badge snobbery as its best , if was a krell , musical fidelity, me or wadis all good, But because it's got Yamaha written on it, people go batsh1t crazy and claim it's over prices
