I'm cooking the Xmas Turkey in the BBQ at the moment and it's a bit wet.

  • I just said sex out loud six times and all I heard back was "I've got a headache", "go away", "are you for real", "too tired", "we've just got over Xmas" and "eat your dinner" AND that was me answe

  • G'day L, You'd be most welcome to come up for a geezer at a pair of Wyndhams CH1s plus a half decent espresso (if I do say so myself!). Or wine, beer, smoky single malt......

  • Hills hifi crawl? Maybe an hour or so here and then off to the tin shed!

What's a bit wet, Grumpy? - the BBQ or the turkey?:thumb:

The Turkey hopefully will be Moist Tony, the BBQ however is WET

I love Adelaide - The markets and McLaren vale would be my two favourites......salivating as I write this

See you in about an hour......:thumb:

Hi Lee,

Not in Glenelg but worth a visit for a meal if you have time is the Tin Cat Cafe in Kent Town. http://www.tincat.com.au/

Got introduced to this quirky establishment on one of my previous visits to Adelaide by Bear72 and the lovely Em.

I've only ever been there for brunch and the food was pretty good for the price. Choice of outside courtyard dining or inside. Licensed and they make great coffee.

As has been already mentioned a trip to Hahndorf is worth it. Only a short drive from Glenelg this charming little tourist town with its tree lined main street has plenty for the visitor. Many art galleries, gift shops and what seems to be an endless selection of eateries and several drinking establishments to choose from. I spent a number of relaxing hours there Saturday a week back on my recent trip to Adelaide. Loved it.

Cheers,

Alan R.

It is tempting but i will slice it when it's cooled and freeze it ready for Xmas - Georgina has demanded at least a nice fresh home cooked bread, turkey sandwich for dinner tonight though.

Sorry Luc, I seem to have taken this off subject - so unlike me too.:thumb:

The turkey looks great Grumpy. What type of BBQ do you have? It seems to do a great job.;)

Oh yeah, back OT, it is an Adelaide turkey and you are just showing Luc how good the turkeys really are in SA.:thumb:

G'day Alan

I'm delighted that you enjoyed Hahndorf - we love living in this part of the hills. I wish we had've known you were going to be in the neighbourhood - it would've been beaut to meet up. Next visit, hopefully?:thumb:

Cursed luck.

Tin Cat Cafe, if you are interested in it, is 200 metres from VAF and 50 metres from The Tap Inn, and about a kilometre from the CBD, and less than a kilometre from the Parade at Norwood. Centre of the universe really.

Thanks Tony. It was a whistle stop tour this time. :) Flew in on the Wednesday latish in the evening. Busy all day Thursday and didn't finish until 7PM on Friday. Got to a late start on Saturday and after doing a bit of admin work I decided pretty much on the spur of the moment to get out of the city and have lunch in Hahndorf. It was too good a day to spend indoors. Sunday was a 10:00AM check out before heading down to the airport for a flight to Brisbane.

Hopefully my next visit will be for longer and a lot less rushed. I agree, the Adelaide hills area certainly has a lot going for it. One of my favourite out of Adelaide destinations which is so easily accessible from the city.

Cheers,

Alan R.

Thanks Benje, that's good news. I could probably leave the girls wandering about in the CBD and pop off to VAf for an hour by the sounds of that.

I'm crook as a dog now:( and in bed hoping against hope that I get better before Weds morning my first full day in Adelaide as if I'm feeling like I do now I wont be leaving apartment in Glenelg at this rate:mad:

36c for Xmas...excellent..

Edit: Just looked at the Tin Hat Cafe it looks nice. Wife says she's feeling crook...great...next it'll be the daughter for sure.

between the city and VAF are the Botanic Gardens - a cheaper option for you than the wife in the CBD. If you develop an interest in VAF's Soundwall, contact me. In fact, whichever product at VAF that you develop an interest in (if you do), you will probably be able to find someone in Adelaide on SNA with an in-home installation.

Well I'm kind of hung up on Maggies to be honest but I've never seen a pair in the flesh let alone heard them and everything I read about the 1.7's is that they are a stunning speaker and I'm developing a taste for classical music and again most of what I've read says stats and the like do it brilliantly so I thought I'd use the trip to Adelaide to have a listen to some speakers and VAF seemed a logical spot.

I've only ever heard three sets of speakers before too; my own little Quads, some Opera's and a quarter of a million dollar set of Focals which I discounted immediately as being too showy and not a good match for either of my amps...

So I'm a beginner in the true sense of the word. :P

How old is the daughter Luc - Glenelg has a nice water-park thingo

Get well quick; don't want you bringing those Eastern State Bugs over here

18 going 30 :/ she inhabits the overdraft section of my bank balance..:P I'll pass that info on to her Grumpy...:).

Yeah those bugs...everyone up here(I'm just finding out now) has it apparently. I was working for a plumber last week and just find out to day that his entire firm have come down with it...

If it wasnt a busy week id have you round. Im just up the road from Glenelg (pretty much everything is just up the road from each other)

Plus you're sick now and i dont need that **** for Xmas :P. Ill let you know if some time opens up

  • Author

No worries and yeah you don't need it(the wog I mean).

Adrocks has kindly invited me round for a listen and a beer and if I can work it in I'll be taking him up on his offer hopefully.

I highly recommend McLaren Vale for the trip and the wines. (I used to have a connection to Wirra Wirra.) The wines in Clare are also glorious, but the trip up is a bit boring. :-)

I'm close to Glenelg (about 10 minutes away in the foothills) and you are welcome to come up for a listen. The SGR CX4Fs are the latest addition.
