We are in position!  Elastic bands off tomorrow. Sounds lovely (but I had to say that, bias an all).

  • Got the tt up to a decent height now. The pillars and tubular metals have all been filled with either expanding foam or that + blast grit to dampen unwanted resonance.  Perhaps a better set of feet

They are the Linkwitz PowerBox 6Pro units. They house 5 Hypex Ncore amplifiers and the ASP cascaded crossover/box for the drivers.

It doesn’t take into account room modes or work out “the best” speaker & listening position, it takes whatever positions you put in and suggests an optimum speaker position / toe-in

Those cable risers look exotic. Must be expensive!😊

What speaker cables are using now?

Bloody expensive!!

Still using the Iconoclast interconnects (XLR) but the speaker connection cable is Sommer via SpeakON connectors as the Linkwitz 6Pro box uses SpeakON as their preferred output.

Thanks.  Yes, my cable risers were very expensive too, but made a significant lift in SQ with my Foilflex Speaker cable. Best bang for the buck!😃

Looking tidier today. Still not totally comfortable with the location of the speakers but they are very close. Toe-in of baffle and bass modules still require ongoing experiments. I need to connect REW and see what it says - there are probably gains to be uncovered.

Hmmmmm what’s been added. Trialling an Innuos PheonixNET which has taken streaming to another level.
very happy atm with the Innuos system(PheonixNET➡️Innuos ZENith mk3➡️PheonixUSB) , signal is fed  is Sablon EVO usb to  Geisler KompaKt II / PCM1702 NOS dac, no DSD but the PCM/Flac world sounds good.
I was playing tracks to @Andythiing this afternoon so I got to hear bands/artists I would never had chosen and the system got a good workout.
The fun of us retirees in da hills.

Thanks for having me over it was a great experience - my second exposure to these amazing speakers. They really do “scale” beyond what your mind tells you is in front of you. The height depth and width of the soundstage is enormous but with everything very precisely placed.

I’d just experienced how much quiet a “Qutest dac” had added to my system and this system had exactly the same impact when streaming - a black void - which music popped out off - it left you wondering why bother with analog- that was until frank played Joni on his clear audio TT - an early pressing that had a “magic” touch.

great fun - I insist on round 3 with those new Joni wax discs opened this time👍

as Molly used to say “do yourself a favour” and say yes if frank invites you for a listen

There's some similarity in our digital front ends. I run Waversa Smart Hub 3.0 switch (the latest addition) ➡️ Waversa LAN EXT2 filter ➡️ Innuos ZENith MK3 ➡️ Innuos Phoenix USB ➡️ Gieseler Kompakt II TDA 1541A DAC ... Atlas Mavros GRUN ethernet and USB cables.

I also use the same outrageously priced cable lifters 😆

I've found that the Gieseler and Innuos components play very nicely together. Adding the Waversa switch recently has lifted the streaming to as good as if not better than playing the same file from the Innuos SSD. Improving the signal fed into the ZENith was a significant change.

I only have the opportunity occasionally but I wish I had more time to spend with like minded music fans ... it always leaves me with more music to explore ... just 9 years to go till retirement for me and plenty to get in place audio wise to prepare for that

Sounds like a nice streaming setup.  I think  streaming is now “becoming of age” , however it requires some effort to get there. The future looks promising and you are moving towards it well equipped.

Took the plunge , and , DHL Elves got here on time. Wired in, database loaded, music emerged, somewhat quietly (much hand wringing) until I found the default volume at 50……. Der……

Give it a few days.  Then need to work out the Innuos # for i2s pin configuration to fit the DS dac and then we can make a comparison.

Ho hum…….

Streaming side looks a bit neater, have to wait on a longer i2s cable to access the DS but through the Geisler PCM1702 NOS I don’t appear to be missing much.  The Bass & Drum intro track is amazing to hear through the system.

I added the Tubulus Concentus i2s Cable V2 between the NG and the DS. After about 8-10hrs of playing I listed again to the above track and also Fanfare For the Common Man (both ELP and the original orchestral versions) - bit of a Wow moment.  Will be interesting to hear again in a week or two, and also revert back to the Belkin cable to check.
