Elisabeth Murdoch Hall Melbourne

London-based producer Ryan Lee West, better known as Rival Consoles, is revered for his ability to make synthesisers sound organically human and atmospheric. Following a global tour and a recent sold-out appearance at Dark Mofo, Rival Consoles makes his highly anticipated return to Melbourne with his immersive Landscape from Memory audiovisual show.

Featuring live visuals by digital artist Sky Ainsbury, witness the duo transform the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall into a euphoric and cinematic audiovisual experience. From deep ambient works to his distinct take on techno, and traversing the vast spectrum in between, this performance presents a long-form narrative of ideas, with many heard live for the very first time.

Over the course of a critically acclaimed eighteen-year career, Landscape from Memory marks a new chapter in an ongoing quest for refinement and evolution. Don't miss your chance to witness one of the UK's most influential creators of electronic music in this audio-visual spectacle.

I love Substrata by Biosphere. Only just discovered it a few years ago. I use it sometimes to calm the mind and go to sleep - rarely get to the end of the album conscious!

Acid Gubi - OK! -- a 90 min set of twiddling the knobs on some Korg and Roland synths. Old school melodic acid fun. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp.

2 under the letter A+B - Autocreation  Mettle a bit easier listen than Autechre Confield. B12 compilation is rather good and Biosphere Substrata is always well regarded.

I've tried a couple of times, listening to Yello, based on recommends here... I just don't get it.

Its like my Dad purchased a synth and starting making music.

Maybe being of Swiss origin helps.

For an immediate look, one of the compilation albums would be good say “the mix in one go 80 - 85 or Yello 40 years.. but as album, I’d try One Second this has a number of guest vocalists on it. Definately try tho - the Boris blank and Malia album convergence.
