Steff Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) First heard on Andrew Hollo's wonderful ambient/electronic radio show Hybrid on PBS. I believe @andrewhollo is an SNA member! Treasured the CD since 2001 (many others sold, some since re-purchased). Track 1 on youtube, very good bass workout https://youtu.be/r13TEQy7C1M?si=d5GBBYBHrW6747vS Edited July 5, 2024 by Steff 3

Ian McP Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 https://kiasmos.bandcamp.com/album/ii < When Kiasmos started out in the late 2000s, little did they know that their part-time supergroup would go stratospheric. It was the sound of two old friends from neighbouring islands striking out against the stark piano and electropop music that they were individually celebrated for and effusively sharing their love of Berlin-inspired beats. But their pairing blew up into a world-dominating live act whose music went on to define the decade. Kiasmos are returning, renewed and restored, with ‘II’. It’s the triumphant follow-up to their universally acclaimed self-titled debut in 2014, which re-envisioned minimal techno with orchestral flourishes and weightless production. They’d made most of that album in just two weeks; this time it’s been 10 years. The making of ‘II’ was a test of their friendship, but also testament to how great musical chemistry can always go the distance and be just the same as it ever was. “In the beginning, we hadn’t established any sound, so it was easy to write,” says Janus. “The record sounds fuller,” agrees Ólafur. “The sound design gives you a sense of place and space.” “II is livelier,” says Janus, “but it still retains the signature Kiasmos style of transitioning from a whisper-quiet ambience to an explosive dance beat that can blow your socks off.” Their phoenix is rising from the ashes, and ready to take flight. credits released July 5, 2024 > 3 1
illbarto Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) I've been getting into some pretty heavy techno / electronica lately some dark, some quite rhythmic, but all out none the less. Better bake a cake for the neighbours. Coido: Traces Bandcamp here Tidal here Edited July 11, 2024 by illbarto commas 1
illbarto Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 And while we're in the mood some of this H productions stuff is great. In fact all Cari Lekebusch stuff is great. To me any way... (Not sure about the neighbours but they do like cake) Bandcamp here Tidal here
hired goon Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Dub Atomica - Autonomic -- an early release on the DiN label, from 1999, featuring label head honcho Ian Boddy in collaboration with Nigel Mullaney. This has a very strong late 90s Fax label sound, maybe closest to the Namlook/Spyra releases such as Virtual Vices, or some of the Namlook/Move D releases. Currently a "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for a limited time. --Geoff 1
metamatics Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 One of my favorite early trance records that paved the way . One half of Jam & Spoon ….. Dance 2 Trance These guys made such political statements. 1

hired goon Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Ghost Dubs - Damaged -- heavy deep dub, kinda like a more compact Basic Channel. Noice. --Geoff 1
hired goon Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 DJ Sprinkles - Midtown 120 Blues -- a project from Terre Thaemlitz, a name that I recognized from back in the days of ambient, but here going deep house, although there are still some Chill Out style ambient collages sprinkled throughout. --Geoff 1 1
