aaragore
Hey to all the TH-800PY owners out there with a ps3 or 360...can you advise me on what the best tv settings (optimal settings) are when playing games? i.e. brightness contrast color etc? im using the settings recommended in AVS forum..here it goes~ to ps3 via hdmi RGB limited cinema mode picture 74 brightness 48 colour 46 sharpness 0 xy color off temp warm "the rest all off" these are my settings for blu ray play back n they look good to me, deep blacks n good shadow details, colours are very natural~ u can try pumping more picture if ur in a dark room. blaast6
Don't they all have glass? That's what I thought, but the sales guy tapped his (wedding) ring on the front, and the PX80 sounded more dull (like plastic), compared to a more definite glass sound on the PZ800. The Witzl
Best to hook the PS3 optical up to an AVR if you want 5.1.The optical out on the TV will output 5.1 on HD FTA broadcasts that are broadcast in 5.1. All other inputs (HDMI, AV1/2/3/4 etc) are all passthrough in 2.0. So still hook up the optical from TV to AVR, but better to use the optical from the PS3 direct to AVR. Really? I didnt know that!! I've got my 50PX80A hooked up with the optical output going to the Amplifier, and all my sources going to the TV via HDMI (Xbox, DVD, etc). When i play GTA-IV on the xbox... it seems to be in true 5.1 though? Likewise when i play DVDs. What about the 50PZ850A? My dad just bought one, and I need to plan out his system setup. Does this one also only pass through in 2.0?
relliksalta
It could be that your receiver is converting the 2.0 signal to 5.1 PLXII or whatever it is ? I have my SD Topfield PVR, Pioneer DVD player and x360 all going to the Onkyo 705 and then onto the PX80A via the single HDMI. Optical cable from TV back to the Onkyo for 5.1 from the internal tuner. All works perfectly, although in future I'll replace the topfield 6000 with a HD one and then I wont need the internal tuner from the TV and wont need to switch inputs if I use DVD/360 or PVR. Please upload a receipt tomorrow. Tis a good price. I bought one yesterday from Good Guys opposite High point and the best price they would do (even with a $1790 fridge) was $2600. Better electrical opposite it had it for $2548 but they didn't have one in stock and wouldnt have one in till December sometime. HN around the corner wouldn't even match the $2600, and was $200 dearer on the fridge

bertzz99
I think getting the warranty extended is worth it if you pay the standard 10%.

agrif78
Extended Warranty is worth it imo - at least say extra 2 yrs so 3 in total. Or... purchase with AMEX card and get extra 1 yr warranty free through using that card if you have one.
blaast6
well im grabbing a TH-50PZ800A for $2000 from jb tomorrow, not sure whether to extend warranty though? I was at JB Epping Plaza yesterday and they could only knock $50 from the sticker price, so ~$2650!!! Hoping its not but it must be... Can't wait to see the receipt.... Yep i'm in the same boat. I don't think even JB employees would get it at that price let alone someone off the street so i can't see it happening. Which JB in Epping was it? The one in the Plaza or the one on High St?
