Since last Saturday, channel 7 has vanished from my Thomson DTI500AU STB, and it's showing channel 71 twice. Anyone else seeing this glitch?

No, but on the same day I noticed that 77 wasn't the 7 guide, it was the same feed as 7

Just a Northern NSW channel update

Thx for the above list, I only just tuned my new SD box in last night and was wondering if I had all available channels.

My new box (Digicrystal 2000) also found:

50. SC HD (I'm guessing SC10, Ch 10 HD?)

?

If you are wondering who he is, my guess is that he is a technical person at Prime.

Prime's email system only shows him as "Terry Wilkins/Admin/PrimeTv" (okay, so I bothered to put his full name in).

Tezza to his mates, has been at Prime and before that, at CBN for ages and ages, a very good boss if you are lucky to be employed by him. A keen golfer and admirer of models.

Hi guys,

Ran my SD stb (Next-Wave TDR-3100) through a scan last night (i live in the illawarra) and while I got most channels, I dont seem to get Ten EPG, Sevens (Prime?) EPG or nine's EPG. Should I? The only EPG I got was SBS. It picked up the HD channels for all of them, but, none of the EPG's. Is there a simple explanation for this? I thought I should have got them.

If this has been answered somewhere else, can you nudge me in that direction?

cheers

Timbo

Hi Timboi,

Ten's, Seven's and Nine's VPG's (Video EPG's) are currently not avaliable in regional areas. In regional NSW you can currently only recieve SBS's VPG (Channel 31). The other VPG's are currently only avaliable in metro areas. The ABC will soon provide their VPG which will be on Channel 22.

Stickeylabel,

Here is a list of LCNs for Albury / Wodonga and Shepparton.

Note that WIN does not feel the need to identify itself at Shepparton.

It just uses the name "Goulburn Valley"

Thanks, Winston, but what I asked for was the links to each screen shot to be updated and any new channel add and any former channel deleted.

What deleted/new channels do you know of? That's the current channel set-up as far as I know.

Something strange came up on my STB in August last year and breifly last week. I got something like Prog. N.B:855 or something like that. It appeared during the AFL matches but when I tried accessing them, they either showed up as "Loss of Signal" (Last year) or "Service Not availble not availble to this reciever" (Which normally shows up on the HD channels since I got a SD) error screens. Would they be those Sports Stats channels?

Great list!

I am actually trying to understand the use of multi-channeling by broadcasters. Does it mean that broadcasters at times assign the same identification (some service id) a receiver use to put a channel in their list to multiple LCNs - and during special occassions they change this policy and allocate these LCNs to different channels ? Is that the reason why many STBs and Tuner cards require a rescan when broadcasters does these things during special occassions ?

thanks

Praveen

Notes

*'HD' services denoted as '576p' are generally not considered to be proper High Definition, Australia is the only country to recognise 576p as HD as it offers no extra resolution. Many suggest that the SD service is of higher quality and of the three networks that do transmit in 576p, only Prime/Seven have native HD content shown. ABC and SBS just upconvert their SD material.

*Nine Guide (LCN 99) not available in all metro markets.

*When multichanneling occurs, the LCNs listed under duplicate channels will be used, some STBs and most TV tuner cards will require a rescan to receive additional services.

Glossary

SD: Standard Definition. (Usually 704x576i or 720x576i)

HD: High Definition.

LCN: Logical Channel Number, the channel numbers that appear on your STB, computer tuner cards often ignore LCNs and assign channel numbers as they wish.

576p: A resolution of 720x576 progressive scan.

1080i: A resolution of 1440x1080 or 1920x1080 interlaced.

Guide: A channel showing what's on TV.

Pretty much spot on. They're like your TV/radio presets, they're all preset to the same frequency (or in this case stream) and they change it when they want/need to.

Its a bit rude that Canberra viewers don't get the Parliamentary channels - then again we have to put up with the a-holes in person so do we really need to see them on TV?

I am getting the following channels 350 SBS HD 355 7 DIG1 356 7 DIG2 357 T DIG3 358 7 HD I am in Melbourne running of a country earial and picking up Gippsland. Anybody else getting those Channels
