I'll post tomorrow.

I've set up a test-bed power supply with dual +/- rails and variable voltage and current - up to 5A, so that I can test the modules before reinstalling them too.

:hijacked:

But I am keen to see this....

I'll start a new thread this afternoon, and will add the link here.

Was lighthearted. Don’t really mind the banter and looking forward to seeing the new thread.

Did some cleaning on the Yaqin. Had a scratchy volume pot. The new EH tubes are nice. Set the bias at 3.7

Got my ME850 back from @PonyTail today. He’s too good for words. Will be back to see him next week to get my MC card put in the ME14.

Also got my Yaqin open the other day as the volume pot was scratchy. What I thought was an ALPs was actually a cheap Chinese POS. So I got a new ALPs and put that in. The amp sounds so much better. No scratching with manual or remote.

After you carefully remove it and clean the parts it’s not too hard. Use solder wick or one of those suckers. Don’t be more than 3 seconds. And not too Hot. Then solder the new sucker in.

Mine had 8 pins for grounds and in and out.

Then two pins to hold it in. Then two legs for the motor up and down.

Practice on a sacrificial board some time. Or take the volume board out and have someone do it. You should have 3 main leads go to it. The input lead and a left and right output lead. If it’s motorised you’ll also have a lead for the motor but they are usually disconnecting plugs.

Is that the Scout 1.1 from Krispy? I had one of these and it’s brilliant.  Don’t tell Mr Rogers that you bought a VPI as he’ll just say it’s low fi. Lol

Haha yes I did. Cameron is great to deal with. I can’t comment myself yet. But I like the new look. Check this space. Another one coming next week when @Grizzly gets over his hangover.

The unipivot is going to take a bit to get used to... ?

Cameron is excellent to deal with. Mr Rogers just corrected my post - it’s mid fi not lo fi. Lol

I love the unipivot!

I think I will too. But it’s bloody freaky first off. Feels like a busted tonearm ?

The unipivot arm is excellent and quite honestly it won’t take but a few plays to get used to. At least, it will with that model table and arm.

Now the VPI Prime OTH is another kettle of fish.

Be a while till I move up the chain. Another member that bought the other Scout said he adjusted quickly so all good

Things are looking a lot nicer... slowly, slowly.

Prepared for another new arrival this week.

Still deciding if I’ll bring the mono’s out and have a head to head with the 850.
