Good morning!

Last night was quite a late one. Time flies once the setup starts warming up, and after 11 PM, it sounded so incredible that going to bed felt like a waste of time.

Thank you all for your amazing encouragement! I think it’s time for another Sunday get-together. My plan is to meet here on Sunday, August 17th. Any locals interested?

If he hadn't fallen into that trap he wouldn't have M7 now.

True - and Accuphase has repeatedly stated that their prime objective is engineering excellence, not sales.  To my knowledge, they have also been loyal to their distributors and dealers over the years irrespective of whether sales numbers could be higher in certain regions.

That, and the fact that judging by the picture, you would have soon ran out of floor space 😉

Absolutely! I'm running out of floor space with all the surplus gear lying around. 😁 When I was building the room, I thought 60m2 would be more than enough, but it doesn't seem that way now.😞

Running out of floor space ? What about a little built in Vault for all the precious audio gems , that'll get them off the floor !   heheeimage.png.76f9241e6d8a8e0351de8513171e9474.png

In light of what we've been discussing here, this video just popped up on YouTube. For what it's worth.

Surprised they didn't pair them with the R1s, the CR1s are great but the R1s are an order of magnitude better.

Last night, I struggled to find rest. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts as I evaluated and contemplated the prospect of this golden opportunity. It was exhausting, and I couldn’t shake the pain in my head, pondering whether moving forward would ultimately harm my finances. The question remains: to proceed or not to proceed? It’s a dilemma that lingers unanswered.

This demands a response, but I am not qualified to do so.

Any takers?

I suggest you remember the first few weeks with your new speakers and remember how amazing the experience was, and the quality of the music. I’m sure that hasn’t changed other than the fact you are more familiar with your system and it’s not quite the same as the initial buzz, perhaps get off the upgraditis cycle for a bit and enjoy what you have, and revisit upgrading when it may be a more financially suitable time.

Thanks @awayward! This opportunity is unlikely to come around again anytime soon. We're talking about a substantial number of coins—enormous, to be precise—especially considering the RRP for the Telos mono amps alone are $1 million. The preamps is obviously extra.

My current setup provides an exceptional sound experience, reflecting both past and present brilliance. Adding these 4800 accompaniments is bound to take it to the next level!?!

Looking at the Telos amplifier I'm not completely convinced that it would take your system to the next level.

These amplifiers are Class AB with extreme wattage in mind which not only do your M7's don't need but doesn't always go hand in hand with audio quality.

In the past low distortion figures hasn't always meant good audio quality either.

One interesting claim in the sales jargon is the gold terminals.  Gold is used because it doesn't tarnish but it's relatively poor as a conductor though a popular material amongst the hyper-products, remember the 24 carat gold speakers?

I'm not surprised that you have been offered a very good deal on a pair as I imagine a product like this could be a bit of a white elephant in the Australian market so it would make sense for a retailer to demo it and then sell it for a bit above wholesale.

This is not say that they are bad amps as I haven't heard them and Goldmund seems to have a good reputation but you want to be very careful to ensure that they are exactly right for you and go in with your eyes open.

@Martykt, As I settled into my massage chair last night, I reminded myself to relax before bedtime. Everything was going smoothly until I had an unexpected dream that woke me up around 4:00 AM. In that moment, I began to question the power supplies, particularly the logic behind such a high power output from a single IEC socket. I turned to my trusted source, Dr. Google, but I found very little information available. Such high power output from a single IEC socket can only indicate that it is a switch-mode power supply (PSU). Only a switch-mode PSU can achieve such precise tolerance and an extremely low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) percentage.

If that is the case, I am not a fan of switch-mode PSUs. While they provide precision and clarity, they often lack musicality and fail to evoke emotion in the music.

The Telos is a low distortion class AB ARC welder so most likely has a clean sound.

The good thing about the M7 is that they are relatively efficient so you can easily run Class A like your Gryphons or even possibly some tube amplifiers which have that musicality and emotion.

If you were still considering upgrading, I'd either stay with Gryphon (say Apex) or something like a pair of Ypsilon SET 100 monoblocks which are designed with musicality and audio quality first and foremost.

Most of all trust what you like and connects with you emotionally rather than what has the right price tag or street cred or what others say you should buy.

I know the absolute best way to get the most performance from your power supply, but it is a secret and i will tell you when I visit. 😄Cheers.

Maybe if you could articulate what you believe your current set up is missing, that is leaving wanting, needing something else, that would be helpful?
Otherwise throwing money at random equipment, no matter how good a deal, or what the price is, or what the reviews say, is pointless.

A quality system is build by carefully testing each piece of equipment in your own room with your own gear, but i know you already know that.

So i guess if they are a good price and you have the funds, they would be worth trying, but only is you can move them on if they don’t hit the mark for you, without losing too much.

But surely the amount of people in the market for this level of gear is more limited, so that could be a potential problem.

I personally like the sound of the Goldmund gear i have listened to lately, but i have only ever heard it with Goldmund speakers.

Thank you, Russ. I must say, I am genuinely delighted with my setup; it brings a smile to my face during every listening session. I hope it offers you the same joy when you visit at the end of this year.

If you were to ask me what I find lacking, I honestly can’t say there’s anything missing. Yet, I can’t help but feel the nagging temptation to seek further enhancements—greater clarity, resolution, speed, and dynamic range. It’s an insatiable yearning, I suppose!

I don't think the Telos 4800  has an SMPS.    It has an IEC 16 amp input and power consumption at 1/8 rated output  is 680 watts.   That being said I am still a fan of Gryphon class A monos !

The Gryphon AS monos stand as the enduring legacy of Flemming E. Rasmussen, embodying his artistic vision before he transitioned to a part-time role and restructured the Gryphon business model. In my firsthand audition experience, while the newer Gryphon models, including the Mesphisto mono, exhibit remarkable advancements, the AS mono series retains an unparalleled musicality. Their sound, rich and weighty, evokes the warmth of tubes, whereas the more modern iterations often feel lighter and can lack the depth of timbre. The AS monos exemplify the old Gryphon philosophy with their bank of smaller capacitors, in stark contrast to the four massive capacitors employed in today’s models.

To this day, audiophiles in the ultra-high-end realm hold onto their Gryphon AS monos as their go-to choice, tirelessly pursuing the ultimate sonic pleasure.

These hats are meticulously arranged with precision, achieving a striking three-dimensional placement that results from the state-of-the-art acoustic calibration of the room. This is no ordinary “hat”! They are ultra-high-end audiophile hats, expertly crafted to harmonise with the five elements of Earth, subtly enhancing the auditory experience.

Another visitor ( @audiodyna), today.

IMG_0224.jpeg

Thank you for sparing two hours for me to enjoy such wonderful sound.

Compare with what I heard in the same room five years ago, this is a giant leap.

Since you are so happy with what you have now, why not spend more time to enjoy your music?
