Thanks @tripitaka! I apologise for missed your invitation back in 2022 trip. I definitely feel guilty about not keeping in touch with most of my friends in Victoria. We should definitely share a nice bottle when I visit again. By the way, I haven’t seen you around in that drinking Medes forum!🙂Ahem... @Mendes😂

Yes I hope we will catch up one day!

I have been rather slack with the drinking thread, though I assure you it is not from any lack of drinking 🙂, perhaps the standard just got a bit high there but 'send my fond regards' hehe 🙂

I have been busy with HiFi though, specifically down the dsp rabbit hole, in collaboration with a few like-minded souls haopy to waste insane numbers of hours testing various hypotheses. Perhaps I'll write my (rather surprising) conclusions here at some point.

Anyway, very much looking forward to your next Magico posts.

Sentinel rumored to be US$375,000. A used Select 2 for AU$90K is far more palatable. But you can get a brand new Esoteric D1X SE for AU$70k, and I've seen them on eBay for US$28K+ tax.

Oh no! This is not good….!

What have you put into my mind?

If I didn't already own it I would jump all over that new 230V D1XSE from Japan.

Let me take care of them while you enjoy Shanghai. This will give me a chance to make a clear judgment about migrating from Accuphase. 😊

How about this CD for your new toys Bro ?

Thank you, David! I will follow up with an A2A.

When are you planning to audition? Please bring the Kondo flagship preamps. I will arrange for a suitable pinot noir.

All these discussions reminded me of my audio setup in a shed back in the day.

Many of you here have visited, and many gigs were held here.

Im sorry, why cant I keep my mouth shut. There’s something wrong with me. But again I have to disagree with that statement. That’s is not a SHED. I mean look at it, its better than my house.

This is a shed and the definition as evidence.

Hi Russ,

It was a Colorbond shed that I transformed myself. I installed gyprock on the stud frame for the interior. All four walls are covered with carpet liner from Bunnings, and the ceiling features 100mm polystern panels mounted on a T-rail bar. The floor consists of 10mm laminated floorboards. While you haven't visited this place, many others have. It was actually a bit embarrassing to hold the get-together there, but most people didn’t mind and quietly enjoyed their time. I recall Wynn from Simply Hifi advised against carpeting the four walls, saying it would diminish the liveliness of the sound.

My DIY DAC is still functional, but I no longer use it. It has been collecting dust for quite a while now. I am currently using the servers, and I believe they have reached their full potential. The performance of my setup remains very good, unless the $90,000 Wadax comes along for me to consider upgrading.

With the DIY stuff you never stop chasing your tail. As for M7 at least the tail chasing in the speaker department stops. Wadax DAC would be nice. If you like Accuphase you also might like Esoteric. A used MSB Select 2 another option. There are many good choices <$100k....all different flavors of good. Heck, even PS Audio might be on your radar with the new PMG Signature DAC. But you might be satisfied where the evolution has arrived at now and sit on your tail and enjoy the fruits of your effort. No more effort required.

My immediate priority is to find a matching pair of speaker cables. I hope it won’t be too damaging after the trial. I envision the pre-owned MSB Select 2 as the next step, assuming the Gryphon AS monos remain listenable. I'm hoping to get it from Grant Jones if he has retired from HiFi! 🤞

I use Crystal Cable Ultra Diamond. I can bring those on M7 delivery day and you can try. I'll have a look for a used Select 2. I know where to look....

Thanks, Brodric. I’ll accept the speaker cable offer and postpone the integrated amp until the cables are sorted.

@brodricj, what are your plans for the unboxing video? Will you use an iPhone for capture or a proper camera?

You have the pro photo gear...but not to matter, it's only a YT video. My GoPro Hero 5 would also work.

There are a few Select 2's sitting on dealer shelves in the US after the Cascade upgrade offer. They'd be about AU$72K all up delivered. Plus the cost of any optional modules.

I’ve got some exciting news! The Siltech Royal Double Crown has finally arrived!

I intend to commence testing with my existing speakers, followed by the M7s.
