Great seeing plenty new faces today... Certainly a diversity of experience, background, expertise and gears owners....!

Especially thanks to @Jones99 for the dropping by..., all the way from Mandurah. My setup is never in any shape, form, calibre to his level nor anywhere close to his gears..., must had been a disappointed trip...?!

Many thanks to All for your time today, and some brought over Reds..., too! You know who you are! :thumb:

Not forgetting @Tasso for the kind assistance as always..., despite his tight schedule with family on Sunday still he was rushing over to assist the setting up TT....., and quickly left!

A small a favour from me if I might..., pls post your feedback(s) here instead of PMed me the feedback PLEASE!! Pretty sure there are lots of interstests wanting to know your neutral views/feedbacks....!

We all know how the day eventuated, there is no need to remind me via PM! :hiccup

Feedback, please! :party

Can you please confirm what power amp and speakers you have there Chang?  It's a bit hard to tell from the pictures.

I'd also like to hear some impressions of the sound from your guests.

Thanks in advance.

1. Power conditioner: Accuphase PS-1230

2. Frontend: Accuphase DP-900, Computer Audio dual PC setup with my own LPSUs and JS-2 modded, Pioneer PL70 II

3. DAC: Accuphase DC-950 and Phono is AudioFlight

4. Preamp: Vitus SL100

5. Poweramps: Gryphon AS

6. Speakers: Magico S5

Vitus - Gryphon - Magico

Now that's a system I'd love to hear.

Lucky You. :)

Thanks Chanh really appreciate the invite.

Very impressive looking and sounding gear. The Gryphon sure is a beast.

I didn't bring any cds over so couldn't compare red book to CA but the difference in recordings was very evident. Dsd was pretty impressive.

Would love to hear the tt once its setup.

Hurry up and get the new room built mate:P will be looking forward to a gtg again.

cheers Dave.

Very unflattering photo of myself, my six pack seems to have disappeared for the photo. :P

Chanh,

Thanks for opening up your shed.  Not many can boast having a shed system of the calibre of yours:D

Big changes since I was there a couple of years ago.  Whilst I did not sit in the sweet spot, the quality was evident from my casual listen, well done.

Also, thanks for sharing with us some of the details of your journey and the extents that you have gone to in the pursuit of getting the sound right.  As been borne out previously, one (but not the only) key things is getting the power right.

A big thanks to Chanh for opening up his shed and sharing with us the long journey into CA.

The time, finances, electrical knowledge not to mention dedication committed to the project is inspiring.

I have enough trouble comparing cables let alone single capacitors.....

The system is quite incredible and would be beyond most peoples means by quite a way,

The CA audio setup here would have to be one of the most extreme examples of the lengths one could go to achieve sonic bliss

Although I wasn't in the sweet spot, and the fact the music was unfamiliar to me, the CA edged out the transport.

A good comparison would have been a stock mac mini or Auralic Aries, just to show how far you have come.

Maybe for another day.

Cheers

Thanks to Chanh for the gtg. Always generous offering a light supply of food and wine, very delicious.

His system is always improving and continues to impress with how it portrays music, It was good to see some new and old faces as well.

His CA audio setup was very impressive to me, I thought it sounded better than the Accuphase transport - both the CA and SACD went into the same DAC. It had a darker background and things were well placed in the soundstage. His work into CA certainly has moved on since I last heard it a year or two ago.

Thanks again and look forward to the next one.

Cheers,

Mark.

One question - what was the drums track we listened to? It was awesome and would be an excellent reference for use when auditioning gear.

It was the Manger Album - Track 15: Jazz the Variants.

Now try that on the valves setup..., you will understand my perspective from an ex-valves fanboi...., better!

Between 4 x 8" drivers and 3 x 12" subs it didn't sound half bad. Not Magico/Gryphon territory though. Chanh's system is something very special!

OMG..... Look so nice. Though they appear looking the same as UK speakers design. The cosmetic that is, look like Wilson Bensch and B&W...

Edited by Chanh

The curved carbon aesthetic looks very nice, leaps ahead of the Q-series rectangular box aesthetic. At a wild guess I'd say $200k-ish for a pair of those M6 bad boys.

Guys,

I have found out last night, reason to why the TT did not produce any sound. The tonearm wiring were completely stripped from tonearm's socket where the wand inserts.

It seems and from past experiences, I do not have luck with Japanese import or buying over $2.5k items from Japanese. Please be very careful with your next purchase from Japan.., and source from reputable shopfront. Too many scumbags floating around these days making use of the opportunity from innocent and honest people..., including the Japanese.

Cheers.

No good! Boo! I hope the repair isn't too much hassle.

That sucks Chanh.

As per Cam's post, hopefully the repair is not too much of a challenge.

Thanks Guys.... Much appreciated the supports.

I am really missing my Denon DP62L with the Accuphase AC5 setup. Sighhhhh..... Not sure when will it be fixed as I do not have the luxury with time these day for diy.

Not having the luxury of time is a serious impediment to this hobby. I'm the opposite. I have so much free time I'm in the process of painting my roof one tile at a time with a 2 inch paint brush. At the present rate of progress that will take me about 3 weeks to complete. Tonight I'm giving my Magico S3 a last hurrah before they get packed up tomorrow in preparation for the journey to their new home. In anticipation of the next question, they are being replaced by another speaker higher up the Magico food chain.

Yes, 272kg of Magico Q3. Just an interim measure to keep me going until the Magico M3 arrive.
