chaddy Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Pretty good for a NSW Pinot. Tumbarumba gets pretty chilly and I’ve had some good Chardys and Sparklings from there but this just lacks the Southern cool climate elegance. Rhymes with Thursday! 7
Cloth Ears Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Celebrating the last day of work for a month. Off to the land of Bintang and arak, although I doubt I'll be partaking of much of either beverage. And, no, it's not Christmas. But whenever you have a Boatrocker Stout...it feels like it! 5 1
tripitaka Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Just another night at the homestead, run of 2017s, cheers all, good health 6
aechmea Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Alas, Lindemans 4 figure bin wines (reds, whites, occasional sweet) from the Hunter are no longer; winery and vineyards sold. Been around since the old days when they were labelled as Hermitage, White Burgundy etc. Anyway Treasury has no presence in the Hunter any more. These wines (and Mt Pleasant) were/are considered the best of the bunch. This wine soft and succulent. 6
surprisetech Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 The simple things, as they say.,.. enjoying this combo as I cook up lemon caper chicken with Jerusalem artichokes and home grown pumpkin & zucchini for dinner. 7
aechmea Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Two from last night. It was cold and wintery so I thought that a dessert wine might be appropriate as well. Kelvedon 2016 Pinot was good. Had a chalky sort of dryness that I often associate with Bordeaux. Toro Albala "Don PX" Pedro Ximenez Gran Reserva 1986 375ml. Haven't had a sherry for decades and I can't remember them being like this PX; fantastic. Sweet, rancio, raisins, figs, treacle .... 7
Mendes Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Pretty darn good Rosso this is, the fun never stops. 5
Luxmaniac Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I don't know much about wine yet but I can confidently say this one is a good deal nicer than the swill I had last week. 7

NPC Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Happy Friday, Dennis. Getting this one open to see how long it needs in decanter. Steak tonight after a couple of pints at Holgate to limber-up. Wishing you all peace and contentment. 5 1

Left it in the glass for 10mins to settle. It's a typical Two Hands Block series. Very tight even after 11 years. It is showing a little hint of age on the primary palate, but the tannins suggest it needs 3 hours plus to reveal itself fully. Steak and a big shiraz is one of life's primal experiences. Just add some good company and you have all you might ever want or need. 2 3
Mendes Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I bought these back from Hawaii last week, now have to keep my hands off them for a while. Napa and its surrounds make really special wines, I am quite smitten with Cab Sav and Pinots from there. It's a pity we pay so much here, for what little finds its way to our shores. 5 2
