Another Discrete R2R Multibit PCM/DSD DAC from China

Recommended Posts

Yeah, saw it a while back, I really would like one cheap in not working condition that I can repair, I offered this Gumtree guy a deal but he didn't want it, maybe someone else here would like it.

I just found out today ( via head fi forums) that Vinshine Audio have put a 3 year warranty on the Denafrips.
How good is that? [emoji4]

What are the main differences between the Ares and the Vinshine Audio DAC R2R Ref? The tech has left me a little bit confused.

.Not sure myself. Have never really looked into the Vinshine unit. I have read reports on head-fi that one user preferred the Ares over the Vinshine.

Vinshine Audio has now became the only distributor for the Denafrips Dac's, obviously they had their own Dac in their product list too.

Maybe, but Torq quite rightly states they paid top dollar for it and thats what they received, so thats what they reviewed.  If the design is awesome, but the QA/QC is that bad then the review stands which strikes me as fair since its not a golden review sample or a freebie.  I quite like that site as they're not pulling punches and they review a lot of top end gear.

Could the heart and soul of these R2R dacs be in the precision of the resistors. (for others more technical - measures well and sounds great):)

AGD appears to not use the precise resistors like others do. His R2R Module he sells for $43US which has 0.1% resistors.

eg. Holo uses some sort of compensation circuit while denaflips uses very precise resistors.

Are the prices on Vinshine in USD or SGD?

Which DAC are you interested in?  The Denafrips Ares is a super dac for the money, and Alvin will give you customer service second to none.

3 year warranty too. :)

The Ares, doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the Ares and the Pontus, just seems to be more of the same. But I really wish the Ares looked like a mini Pontus or Venus. That would have been some look.

That's some brutal review. Looks like AudioGD should just stick with their PCM1704

As far as I understand, availability is the problem.

Denafrips Ares keeping with some good company here, it's the little box on top of the one with blue lights, top shelf right.
