  2. Doesn’t seem to be much interest. I’m trying to track down some replacement woofer surrounds for the Morel 160 DPS woofers. Any help would be appreciated. Even a model number would be great. Thanks
  3. Further information: A great entry level Turntable with upgraded motor mount, pully, and belt from Henley Design. Sitting on a lovely Houn pine and scooter tube plinth. Speed box was replaced a few years back and all works as it should. I have all original packaging so postage may be possible however pickup is preferred. The arm will take a wide range of quality carts and sounded nice with a At440mla. It is really quite an impressive, small footprint Turntable with great reviews so pleas Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item - if you have previously sold items and not made a donation, your advertisement may not be approved.
  4. Further information: The deck works flawlessly but probably could do with a lube. The 730 was state of the art in its day and still looks amazing. All touch controls and functions work as should but the volume can fade out so will describe it as faulty. I have the original box for the receiver and all the original goodies for both units. Can deliver to Brisbane or Sunny Coast. Audition is possible. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  5. Do you have a spring on the idler carrier arm? This mod seemed to tighten up the overall sound.
  6. Hi Colin. Yes the droppers are a good solution however during the rebuild I noticed they were starting to perish. At my workplace, a printing company, I spied a box of rubber suckers used on folding/finishing machinery. I fitted these face to face in pairs and seem to be perfect for the job. These are available from Birk and Blyme , clear blue Heidelberg bellows suckers. Half the fun for me with the Silex is the opportunity to experiment and tinker, hence my original post. The original soft grommets on the motor are also on the way out. Speargun tube? Any suggestions. Thanks
  7. Hi all. I decided to give my Silex a new plinth, mainly to give a bit of protection around the new arm and also to fill in my time. At the moment I just have temporary spacers made up from layers of cork and hardwood ply. The result is surprisingly ok but I know there’s plenty of room for experiment and improvement. There’s plenty of opinion on the web but I don’t see anything definitive for my situation. Should I be linking the layers for mass, isolating using Sorbothane, spikes or vibracones for feet, so many variables and many that are to expensive in this climate. Let me know what you think.
  8. Item: Quad 306 Price Range: $200 - $500 Item Condition: Used Extra Info: Later rca model in good condition preferably unmolested. Let me know what you have. SE Qld but happy to pay postage. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  9. Thanks Dave. We have some stunning subtropical timbers hear on the Blackall Range so I’ll keep a lookout.
  10. Hi Dave, I just picked up a quad 34/306 which sounds lovely and will replace the April music Stello system. I generally listen to vinyl and use Spotify for research. Thanks for your encouragement however the price of decent plywood seems high. I live in a timber area so any thoughts on solid timber?
  11. Thanks everyone for your input. As stated I am really just looking for a hi fi carpentry project that doesn’t look like a pair of boxes but sounds good. I am not especially fixed on a single full range design, however the Frugel-Horn XL did rise to the top of my research list. I welcome any advice be it negative or positive. Planet 10 is a great a great resource so maybe I should be directing my enquires there. Thanks again.
  12. Hello all. I have had these two gems sitting around for a while and am just seeking some advice. The tape deck works fine and I may consider selling it however the 730 is a different story. All the lights, sliders, bells and whistles, tuner ect. work fine however there is an intermittent fault causing loss of sound. When it’s good it’s very good, but. My question though is how much money can you put into a 1978 amp before it’s to much and is this one even a worthy contender. I might add that both units are cosmetically mint. Thanks.
  13. Looking for a project, have any members built or owned a pair of frugalhorn xl speakers?
  14. Tasmanian Blackwood. You may possibly find more info on the Maleny wood expo Facebook page.
  15. Great to see a young woodworker take out this years Wootha prize at the Maleny wood expo. He loves his vintage gear and had a nice collection of vinyl as well. The Wootha prize is hotly contested and worth a cool $10.000
  16. On a recent trip to Bunker records Toowoomba I purchased the Breeders new album, 180g clear orange but also in the free box was this gem. It surely is a crime that an album of 1960s lounge music can be so superior in so many ways. Any way Vincent Bell is one cool cat.
  17. Have any Silex owners out there added a spring to the idler carrier, if so why and what did you gain. Just curious thanks.
  18. The ones I used were from philsestore on a bay as mentioned in adiofelines earlier post. They at first seemed a little soft but do the job very well at $27
