  1. Looks like an awesomse setup, but can a computer illiterate numpty like myself download it and use it on my HTPC?? or this this way too far over my head... personally, I think the later!!
  2. Any ideas where we may be able to get the info from.... email them direct maybe?? Even that seems like a bit of an issues cos they only want to know you if you have bought an release of their software...
  3. I had a look at the website.... a lot of info but not what I was looking for... Simply... Can you use it to watch HDTV?? Does it support twin tuners?? I am yet to find these answers.... if anyone knows the answer, could they please enlighten me... thanx
  4. Steve, Certainly sounds like a system for me too! Just a question.... when you turn the HTPC on, which screen does it load in? That is does it load the XP window first and then you have to initiate MP or does it go straight to an MP skin? Thanx Andrew
  5. Thanx again guys. ocujos, are you using an aftermarket ir reciever or the one bundled with your PC card... if it had one...
  6. Thanx Steve, Are you using any additional software to bring all the functions of the HTPC together... eg. girder or HIP? What are you using as your base OS.. is it the normal XP or MCE2005? Andrew
  7. Thanx ocujos... sounds like a plan... I checked out girder and it looks the go too.... unless I don't need it with MP? Any idea when the next release is coming? Thanx again
  8. Hey UltraDTV... might have missed it on your site, but can this bit of kit handle dual tuners? Thanx
  9. Hmmmm... lucky you included the link on PC DTV software otherwise your post would have been a total waste of space.... BTW no forum rules breeched here... not my fault if your curiosity got the best of you... Regardless, thanx for the post joeybloggs....
  10. Sorry but WAF? what does this mean? ajm, sounds like you would give the MCE the thumbs up above the others mentioned? I will be using DNTVLive, but I was just wondering what I should be running beneath that ... so to speak... Meedio looks good... just got PC magazines editors choice award... whatever thats worth..?? Am really keen on any others input....
  11. Any comments on Meedio HTPC software? Anyone out there using this on their HTPC?
  12. Ocujos and fellow contributors, Thanx for all your help so far. great info guys! Ocujos, In your opinion, would the way to go be to install XP and then use media portal? Do you suggest this over using MCE2005? Does media portal work well with DNTV Live? Any ideas.... cos I'm probably going to be using the DVICO dual tuner... Your thoughts.... and anyone else's too mind you...
  13. okay... so now for the constructive comments ocujos... ???
  14. Guru's or those with more knowledge than myself (most of the population!) This is my first foray into the world of HTPC, hence my questions are probably quite stupid. I am looking at getting a HTPC, Shuttle SN25P to be exact and I would like to control it with a Pronto TSU7000.... It will be in the lounge so the last thing the misses wants is a mouse and keyboard on the coffee table. We both want to site on the couch...... My simple question is ...... HOW? what do I need to get to make these two babies work in harmony? Maybe my question is too basic, but I have looked and looked (obviously in all the wrong places) but cannot find and answer to this simple question. The operating system will more than likely be XP but I can change that if there are some good ideas out there..... MCE 2005... whatever... Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Andrew
  15. Thanx Ken. So with all that said, we need to wait another month or two till it gets here. (hopefully this won't be a Topfield 7000 scenario reborn!) I too have heard the issues with MCE2005, so if I was to use this PC for purely HTPC applications, what operating system would I load onto it? Normal XP? How does the DVICO's software stack up agains software like Mytheatre? Any comments.... See this link.... http://www.inventa.com.au/PVR%20Software%20Comparison.htm Thanx Andrew
  16. Hey Renura, Great to hear the dual tuner card is only days away...??!! Is it still on track for the end of September as you suggested earlier in this thread?? Like others on this thread, I also will be snapping on up as soon as they become available. One question, what is the recommended operating system to be used with this card... XP or XP MCE 2005? Can you give us any indication of the bundled software that will be coming with the card? Will there be a remote included? Just a couple of questions.... Hope you can publically answer them. Thanx Andrew
  17. Is that all you've got Cliff....??? Good god whats wrong with you man....?? Give it another go and this time actually put some thought into your comments....
  18. Without a doubt, the NEC. I've had a Fuji and there after sales service suck!! So if you get a good one then all should be okay..... mind you, I still reckon the NEC has a better PQ then any other unit on the market!!! My2cents..
  19. Guys.. thanks to some of you for your insights.... Yes I have been on here for a while and yes I could have run the search feature... thanks for those great pieces on thought provoking insight.... it has helped immensly! No need to hang the proverbial on the equipment I have cos I love it! It would be more value added to input with quality rather then bull%$&* responses that only get in the way of the responses of the real helpful people on this forum. Now that I have vented.... as the smart ones would know and have read in my intial post, the Bose cube is a slightly different animal to the normal speaker. Hence my question was solely focused around that fact and I was looking for some educated experienced help on which cable to choose for this unique style of speaker. This to my knowledge HAS NOT been covered in other threads.... I am happy to be proven wrong as this will only help me get my questions answered.
  20. I know there have been many threads on this topic, but at the time they were around I wasn't interested in them.... I should have been.... I need some direction in good quality speaker cables.... The amp is a Yamaha RXV-750 and the speakers are Bose satellite speakers.... Any recommendations...???
  21. Give eBay a go and check out Doug the Theatre Master.... he always has great deals and it sounds like approximately the price he has them as buy it no items so you don't have to go through all the bidding crap....
  22. Ritesh.... From what you have described, you have not bought the correct cable to do justice to your system.... Lindy make an awesome cable!! What you need to be aware of is there are two variants... the normal, which you have purchased looking at the price, or the SLD range... approximately 50% more.... If you decide at some stage to give them another go, try the SLD cable... you definately WON'T take this one back!!!
  23. Give the Lindy SLD cable a go... IMHO it is the best cable around.... My 10m cost be $145 delivered to the doorstep.... Try Lindy Cables
