  1. Thanks... I searched for my model... maybe too specific. You are correct in what you say, but these new V series actually have an automated firmware search enabled at 3am and 5am. If you turn it off, then no clicking at that time...
  2. yeah but why? and which page is this clicking mentioned? thx
  3. Hello all, I know there is a thread about the 54V20 but considering this is about ist smaller sibling, i thought I would ask this question on a new thread... OK... simply put... when you turn the TV off, what sounds like a relay clicks and verything goes blank... [yep... that's what its supposed to do!] BUT about 3 minutes later there is another click that sounds exactly the same... THEN supposedly hours later, there is another click that sounds like it again... wtf? Does anyone have a similar experience? I also have the 54V20 which has its own issues that are being dealth with largly to the credit of this forum, but it does not clikc like the 42".... so I'm just wondering if I am the only one with this issue? Thx...
  4. Guys, Would anyone like to share their settings for this unit and also at what hours they are applying these settings? I assume 100+hrs? I have the settings from Art Frierman's Projector Reviews but have not applied them yet and would be curious to see if any others have more suggestions. Also, I am trying to get the 12v trigger working on this unit. It appears BenQ are using a DC power connector for the trigger plug... great... another unique way! Anyway, not even BenQ have a plug/adaptor to suit my Grandviews 3.5mm mono male plug... which happens to be the industry norm! Why can't they just comply?... and if they don't at leaset be able to give a solution.... AAArghh!!! Any ideas people?
  5. When you say roll up screen I am assuming a manually operated screen... if so not sure about the $2k price... sounds like robbery to me... BUT if it is motorised then you may be in the ball park. At the end of the day you pay for the following items - the drive and its noise, the material, if it uses tab-tension and lastly the name. Having owned a couple, tab-tension in my opinion was not worth it as I have had other motorised screens perform just as well and weigh half of what it did. LP Morgan are great screens except quite expensive due to being made in Australia. I find Grandview has a good name and well priced for a roll-up/motorised screen. For a fixed screen, speak with oztheatre on here as he will be able to help you out with the best fixed screens on the market today...
  6. With all due respect, yours was new!.. these prices mentioned above are from units being used on the showroom floor... They say minimal hours use in their dedicated home theatre's... I don't know... Never liked purchasing ex-demo gear. Much prefer honest second hand...
  7. Not too mention I was the one chasing this specific item so they know I want it... I'd love to know where I could find a new one for similar dollars or even somewhere between the offered and best ever $700 price! Damn it!
  8. The JB guy said he could view stock across all stores and although they never stocked em, he said the others are showing nothing. Questions for you guys... I found one in QLD. Is currently being used on 'weekends' in the Sony centre's high end theatre. The guys wants just shy of $1400 for it... He was offended when I reminded him it has been discontinued and it is a used item. Considering it was around $1600 new, I'm thinking $1400 is a bit steep... With that said, do I really feel like paying $2799 for the Denon?... or $750 for the Oppo?
  9. Thanks Diss... Am trying to track one down via Sony and Chris in the city. Supposedly JB never had them... so I was told.. Can't get through to Trevor Lees... have left a message there too... he sounds like a bit of a character...
  10. Al, its great to hear from you... long time no speak... FYI I caught up with Glenncol the other day on the Media Centre Forum... nice to see you guys are still kicking around! I actually have a 3808 Denon but the 4010 appears to be a very expensive option. I regard your comments highly so is it really worth all those extra $$$'s over an Oppo... especially as you can get an 83 landed and converted for less than $750AUD. Not sure where you can find one of these... any ideas... everywhere I have looked do not have them anymore. All online retailers are still suggesting $1500+. If anyone can point me in the right direction and maybe PM me some finer details eg. like who to speak to and how much, that would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Thanks EB... thats pretty much where I was at... I'm curious to hear from some of the others that have been active in this thread thus far and see if they can offer up any other true competitors to the Oppo...
  12. EB you are a crack up! In all seriousness though.... since the demise of the Sony, is there any competition to the Oppo?... Appears not to be from the Sony camp... Pio, Denon and Marantz are all sky high in $$$'s so where's the competition... Outplayed, Outwited, Outlasted?
  13. OK... so I've read the thread... one little issue... This player is discontinued... where to now? Oppo?
  14. Slightly different topic, but where did you get your 8-way splitter from?
  15. I use this case as my HTPC. The ROM drives are not your issue. They are mounted behind the doors on the RHS of the case when you look at it from the front. Behind that is the power supply. My initial issue was the mounting of my 7800GTX card the first PCI-e slot on my ASUS A8N-SLi Premium board as it made contact with my HDD's mounted in the central rack. I have to drill new holes in the rack and remount them plus a little re-routing of the VFD cables and all fits like a glove....
  16. Sorry, i mean full screen or zoom or a wide setting.. I'm assuming you are using a full screen setting Also, please check your email as I sent you one... Cheers..
  17. Thanx Delbz... What was the PQ like when you changed from Component to DVI... did it make any difference at all?? Do you run your screen setting in FULL or is it another setting?? When you ran the Plasma in DVI what did you have the input type set at... I'm assuming it was STB/DTV not PC... Thanx again... much appreciated!!
  18. G'day Guys, I need the help of someone out there that owns a NEC XM3W and has a HD STB. The brand of box is not important, just as long as the panel is the one I have mentioned and you are feeding it either via DVI or HDMI/DVI. If the right person/people could either reply to this thread or PM me it would be greatly appreciated.... why I hear you ask... I just need some source information.... i.e. when you go to your menu, the last item is souce info.... I would like to know the following... From your STB, if you are running 720p or 1080i How you have it connected DVI or HDMI/DVI or even D-Sub (DB15) from the source information in the main menu, what is the input signal you are getting. This should be three figures, a vertical frequency (eg 60.000Hz), a Horizontal frequency (eg 75.0000) and a resolution (eg 1024x768) thank-you
  19. Great advice and from another MCE user (...or is it guinue pig?) I can highly recommend it and the associated forum mentioned above...
  20. Hey Colojim Yeah mine was made in Japan and don't seem to have any issues thus far. Mind you I really haven't been burning too much stuff at the moment as I'm still trying to get all the finer details of the HTPC running the way i want them. I have used the TDK discs with both the burn function in MCE and also Nero7. A
  21. No. I have a dedicated PC for business and one for HTPC. This ensures you have less, if any software conflicts.... Update.... looks like people are still interested in my plight... The CPU was apparently not seated properly... after re-seating, the little machine has not missed a beat. For those that are interested, the machine has the following specs.... and the PSU is doing it all with ease! SN25P Barebone Shuttle AMD X2 4800+ 2GB XMS Corsair 74GB Raptor & 400GB Caviar SATA Western Digital HDD's Pioneer DVR110 Burner BFG 7800GTX OC 256Mb twin DVI 350w Silent-X PSU Twin TinyUSB2 HD Tuners Belkin USB 54g Wireless Internet MCE 2005 RU2 with Logitech 880 remote
  22. Check out the DigitalNow website..... pretty much anything Renura sells is top notch and not too mention he is a regular on these forum so you are sure to be looked after with excellent after sales service, advice and trouble shooting if that arises.
  23. I suspect you would have shipping insurance on this product. You can ask the sender to undervalue it and put that on the value declaration. Only risk is if it gets damaged or lost and you have valued it at $1000, thats all you'll get....
  24. I can't understand why people don't take the time to read a 74 page thread.... Ha Ha
